Racoon:Which windfall Racoon? Bros, the impact of exchange rate and the taxes and levies are the reasons. No magic Bros, let's allow Tinubu’s supporters to be deceiving themselves. |

Just want to say that 1.I don't support tinubu 2.This is not a denial that corruption exists 3. I don't support Obi or atiku. 4.If you want to vote out APC In 2027, that's fine by me. Right. Most states have two things in common...low tax to gdp, and lack of control over resources domicilled in the state. Then there is the lack of industrialization in such states, and large swathes of uneducated people. The result is most states don't have enough money to run things. And as a result have to borrow. Going back to regions won't change the above, it would just worsen it. Hence my comment above. Nigeria's problem is every state and even federal government doesn't want to develop alternative sources of income, plus people want government to share money (and government obliges them...see the current government's renewed hope sharing scheme..lol)....and this means a country with a massive debt, and states with massive debts. There , that's the problem. But fixing it is something that won't happen....because the people complaining on this thread and the tinubu data boys avoiding this thread like it as it is. Increasing tax to gdp is going to be seen as oppression...and trying to transition into a industrial economy is going to be hamstrung by people not wanting to do vocaitonal education and wanting to wiork in office....and by good governance being defined by most people as living like Saudi Arabians. Well trying to be like Saudi got us here. Populism and saying government is bad or tinubu is trying won't get us out of here. Modified I laugh when I hear tinubu boys talk of windfalls. Lagos is spending 2.1 trillion Naira which is about .....1.6 billion dollars...when Lagos metro alone needs something like 10-15 billion dollars in spending for example. There is no windfall...just more limited, severely limited money freed up in an unproductive dutch diseased country |

Image123:Jesus and Mary. The debt is higher because the government at Abuja is running out of dollars to fund even the set budget. Oil prices were and continue to be below budget benchmark oil prices...that means more boroowing at state and federal level Where is the effing plan to diversify earnings you APC boys have been promising us since 2015? Seriously man, this is annoying. |

F117nighthawk:..it's the value of the naira that matters and that is important...not giving high increased allocation to state governors... When the naira has no value against the dollars..all this high increased allocation cannot do much or anything meaningful... that is why 18k minimum wage during Jonathan time had more value than the 70k minimum wage of Tinubu administration.. because the naira had value during Jonathan time and naira was strong at that time against the dollars |

It's the value of the naira that matters a lot..not giving governors high increased allocation when the naira is weak ,devalued had no value..all this increased allocation will not have any meaningful positive effect on the people and the states they govern due to the weakness of the naira and devaluation... that is why 12k minimum wage during Obasanjo administration is more valuable than minimum wage of 70k of Tinubu administration because the naira was strong and had value during Obasanjo administration..it's the value and the strength of the naira that matters the more |

yinchar:lol . but after asking the governors, where is the money, what else ? both of us know that the citizens are powerless before the president and the governors, especially with the immunity clause for the sitting governors and president, and the dormant rubber-stamp legistratures at the moment . T-pain's fuel subsidy removal without any platform of accountability for the governors is never the best . T-pain just transfered our huge resources to his political class, while leaving the masses stranded . |

Some local government are still owing workers salary areas. with the huge allocation coming they have refused to pay. So why cause hardship for people to get revenue when the revenue is not fully utilized |
| Re: Despite Record FAAC Windfalls, States Sink Deeper Into Debt, Poverty Worsens by bentenny(m): 12:35pm On Feb 16 |
How will they not sink into more debt when immunity covered governors keep embezzling each monthly allocation and after leaving office, they simply join APC in order not to be prosecuted by security agencies! When there is no punishment for bad behaviour, impunity becomes inevitable! |

Image123:If someone was paid N50,000 in 2023 and his cost of living was N45,000 — then in 2026 he’s now paid N100,000 while his cost of living has increased to N150,000 (for the exact same things he spent money in 2023). Did he not sink into more debt despite salary increase? |
