Prophet Owuor Dismisses Viral WhatsApp Screenshot Showing ‘Conversation With God’ as Fake

A leaked WhatsApp screenshot showing Prophet David Owuor allegedly chatting with God has gone viral, drawing a strong rebuttal from his Ministry of Repentance and Holiness.

The image, which the church says is fabricated, has been widely shared on social media, sparking both ridicule and concern among Kenyans who have shared it thousands of times.

The church has issued a stern statement calling the screenshot entirely false, baseless, and malicious, urging Kenyans to disregard it completely and stop sharing it online.

“It has come to our attention that a fabricated image is circulating on social media, falsely alleging that Prophet Dr Owuor engages in WhatsApp communication with GOD. This claim is entirely false, baseless, and malicious,” stated the statement.

According to the statement, Prophet Owuor has never made, displayed, or even suggested any such communication, dismissing the material as a deliberate attempt to mislead the public.

This is despite Owuor, during a recent sermon, being captured holding up screenshots on a phone. He claimed they were divine messages delivered via the popular messaging app.

According to Owuor, the messages contained instructions for people to repent. In addition, they contained a promise from God to “open the sky for rain”. He further asserted that he is the only human being who communicates with God through WhatsApp.

However, the church described the screenshot as a fake image and an attack meant to ridicule the Christian faith and distract believers from the core message of repentance and holiness and urged people not to share the fabricated image.

This comes after an explosive investigative piece by TV47, on February 9, titled 'Divine or Deceptive' that scrutinised Owuor's healing claims and featured accounts of medical deterioration following treatment abandonment.

The broadcaster also reported alleged bribery attempts by the ministry to prevent the broadcast, claims the church dismissed as blackmail and fake news without substance.

Analysis of the Leaked WhatsApp Contents
This leaked image satirises televangelist Prophet David Owuor by depicting a fabricated WhatsApp chat where he purportedly converses with God.

The formatting mimics real messaging, complete with timestamps and read receipts ("last seen Eternity", blending the mundane with the divine for comedic effect.

The timestamps critically undermine the chat's authenticity. The rapid, human-paced exchange (e.g., 6:59 AM to 7:01 AM) starkly contrasts the implied eternal, omnipotent nature of God, creating ironic humour.

On the other hand, the sequence is chronologically impossible: a message from "God" at 7:03 AM is replied to at 7:01 AM with "Message received," indicating fabricated or edited timestamps.

The timestamps are the clearest internal evidence proving this is a constructed digital artefact, not a genuine leak.
