It falls just below the hype imo
!....

You could almost feel, it is supposed to be something more, it should be something more but it couldn't just hit. You could clearly see the Safdie brothers trying to infuse their "spontaneous" fast paced style, which worked so well with "Good Time (2017)" and "Uncut Gems" (2019), worked well in those because they had proper carthasis, but by the end of this, i was left wondering, what was even the point? or the hype had me blindly thinking, this was gonna be an all timer, where in reality it was just as generic as they come.

Timothée Chalamet performance was good tho but it isn't just enough to sit through this again, for another 2hr 30mins, knowing there is little or no reward at the end.
I was utterly disappointed....

Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway

Premise:
After Char's rebellion, Hathaway Noa leads an insurgency against Earth Federation, but meeting an enemy officer and a mysterious woman alters his fate.

Thoughts:
I've never been a fan of the Gundam series/movies because I don't like Mecha and the multiple timelines just dont work for me. That said, i saw the trailer for the part 2 of this movie and loved it.
So I decided to binge the first 3 old Gundam movies and the 4th one as well.

I finally watched this as my 5th movie in the Gundam franchise and I can say its a breathe of fresh air...

It follows a side character from the 4th Gundam movie, Hathaway Noa who is our protagonist here.
There is little focus on mecha and more of characters. We even see the protagonist experience what regular humans experience daily and how their views mostly defer from that of those in power or the ideological views of those directly involved in the conflict including him.

The movie portrays most of the war from the perspective of humans helpless on the ground with giant mecha robots towering and fighting above, even down to the impact of the buildings, surrounding plants.
These robots which were portrayed as "cool" in the first 4 movies are shown as scary from the perspective of humans on the ground just like ants who have the misfortune of witnessing battles. Everything from buildings crashing down to explosions and parts of the Gundams falling from the sky...

Part 2 is apparently already airing in Japanese cinemas. I hope we get the digital release soon

It is called 'aging'. Priorities, tastes and habits shift and slide without your notice. When you finally do notice, you are baffled at exactly when it happened.
Hmmm.....

The Housemaid..... 7/10

With all the shout and talk about Sydney Sweeney nudity, na basically just one scene in the 55th minute and with side shots, not even the premium deal. But peeps will still mouth off..... undecided undecided

Interesting movie by the way. Nothing spectacular but was good enough and holds up well.
Na this thing Luiz Fernando dey call horror since last year? That guy dey smoke. grin grin

Dead To Rights...... 8.5/10
Language: Chinese

This chronicles the atrocities committed by Japanese forces during WWII against Chinese citizens during the invasion of Nanjing. Women and children were r@pp€d, prisoners of war were killed in unique fashion for entertainment purposes — especially the b£h€ad!ngs. People just treated worse than even farm animals.

The only head scratcher is the rationale behind the Japs filming and taking pics of their atrocities. Concrete evidence to pin them and their crimes.
A young Chinese mailman makes it his life mission to expose these films to the outside world.

Another film that highlights what the Chinese suffered under the hands of Imperial Japan. And I perfectly understand China's modern day mentality and why it strives for excellence in all spheres of human affairs: be it civil, military, industrial, political and diplomatically and what not. I don't think anyone would taste that sort of cruelty and remain the same again.

Just a funny and weird way how the world works. Enemy number one somehow becomes best buddies with Uncle Sam in present day. 🤔

The cinematography and visuals I must say is quite top notch. Loved the black and white.

Man, I'm seriously having crazy issues..... Dunno why I can't seem to have much interest in watching movies these days. Some films I've been anticipating for months finally gets released and I'm having cold feet watching despite being quick in downloading them.

Weirdly enough, I don't have problems guzzling up episodes upon episodes of TV shows and going on crazy binge watching runs for some unique TV shows. But when it comes to showing that commitment to feature films, it becomes a monumental problem. Even for highly anticipated films.

Shït been creeping up since late last year but I shrugged it off as just mood, but man this thing has seeped into this year and I'm lossing a quarter already. Funny thing is, this is the period in a year I easily watch tons of movies at will. 😩😩

I think it's simply because they make more quality series these days than movies.
