I've noticed that Radiography is one of the most underrated medical courses in Nigeria. Most JAMBites scrolling through the JAMB brochure don't even consider it.https://studentradiographer4./2026/02/16/radiography-chose-me-studying-radiography-nigeria/

I had a friend who chose radiography then and some folks thoght he must have lost his brain. It didn't take the guy much time to relocate just because the course is being sought-after even in many European countries. It is an untapped niche |

That's great. That course has always been overlooked but with emmergence of AI in all its splendour. The course is the new bride to the world..... |

I doubt if there is an employed radiographer. There must be something that's discouraging people from going for the profession and I think it's the work hazard involved. |

It is an untapped niche course indeed and lucrative in advanced countries. |

Radiography is a very lucrative profession in healthcare. It's also relatively easier for radiographers to migrate and link up with international positions on the global platform...compared to some of the healthcare disciplines including medicine. My only worry is the associated hazard. |

A friend of mine was given PR in Canada because he studied this course |

You are right. I'm a nurse in the states and I recognize how valuable radiography is and I'm also trying to encourage the younger ones to consider it. It's always good to do the course that can make you independent. |

I too like that course... It's very lucrative but difficult to study, if you don't like calculations.... |

Chisombili:There was a guy who told me that Radiographers are well respected and earns well in one of the best federal teaching hospitals in Nigeria. Therefore, radiography is a sweet course. |

AI is taking over that course. With artificial intelligence using pattern recognition, i will not recommend anyone studying that course now, except radiography technicians to fix the equipment. Many people are still underestimating the coming tsunami effect of AI on careers/jobs in the next 5-10 years. It will do a better job than any human radiographer. if you doubt, upload your xray for analysis on chat gpt 5.2, a basic AI and see how well it will analyse and tell you the result. |

![]() Is one of the best course, but people run away from it, alot of people are not in the profession, may be beczuze of the Nigeria factor... I found myself in the middle of an x-ray and I was told that the the man passed not around, his wife gave birth, that mesn we woukd have to wait for him for like 2weeks till he will be back or we go to a private lab to do it.... They need more hands in the field and people are not doing the course |

chinchum:You are right, i did upload my x-ray on it and it analysed it in detail, infact the way the radiographer did, he even did a better job than him.... |

chinchum:This is seriously scary, you mean AI can take over radiography? No no I please stop scaring us, AI is making medicine a joke joke, we are not safe |
| Re: Radiography Chose Me: What Every Jambite Should Know by ufotunang: 12:59am On Feb 18 |
datola:..a hospital cannot do without an x-ray department..it's an important dept in an hospital..they are many medical cases where the medical doctor will tell a patient to do x-ray before the doctor pin point and have a clear picture of the problem before he can start treating the patient or do surgery .so they should be jobs for them |

Radiography will be replaced very easily machine just as CRT was replaced by LED and it is only a matter of time. |

| Re: Radiography Chose Me: What Every Jambite Should Know by deadie(m): 6:39am On Feb 18 |
chinchum:You have no idea what you are talking about. The job of a radiographer is not to interprete, but rather to acquire medical images. AI has no effect on radigraphy. Someone has to prepare patient, put them in the appropriate clothing, position them for the imaging procedure, take the necessary radiation protection measures and acquire the image. Physical interaction with the patient is needed, so radiography is pretty safe. I studied radiography in for my Bachelors, practiced a bit, then acquired more training and moved to another field. But I will not discourage anyone from studying the course. |
