Member, House of Representatives Committee on Electoral Affairs, Hon Fred Agbedi, has hailed the action of the opposition on the floor of the House on Tuesday during the session on the e-transmission of election results.

Fielding questions in an interview on ‘Politics Today’, a programme on Channels Television on Tuesday, Agbedi said the opposition really stood for Nigeria and its people.

He was speaking about the rowdy session at the House of Representatives over real-time transmission of election results.

DAILY POST reports that some members of the House of Representatives on Tuesday walked out of the House in protest against the move to reverse the passage of the Electoral Act Amendment bill.

Reacting, the lawmaker said, “The Reps members were chanting as they staged a walk out of the House. It showed their displeasure.

It couldn’t have led to that level but I say kudos to the opposition. They made me proud. They did their best. They stood for Nigeria and Nigerians, and for the right thing to be done.

“However, I think that chanting got to the point when the majority part, APC, decided to make it a party affair.”

It would be recalled that members of the House of Representatives chanted “APC Ole,” following the adoption of Clause 60(3) of the Electoral Act Amendment Bill.

While your position is respected, a poll here will determine whether larger numbers want e-transmission or not.

I want Tinubu back as his reforms are great but strengthening our electoral process and institution is more important. After Tinubu in 2031, what then happens if our process is still flawed?

Kudos to them. However, since the return of democracy in 1999, this is the worst and toothless opposition we've ever had. The masses are supposed to be angry and express their anger in the form of massive protests.
Re: E-Transmission: Opposition Stood For Nigerians, Did Their Best – Rep Member by integrity16(m): 7:45am On Feb 18
They stood for themselves, not Nigerians.

If these people were to be in the majority, they would not have cared about real time transmission of result, they would do exactly the way the current majority of NASS did.

So they should stop whining us.

I'm curious, why will any majority refuse real time transmission?

Insecurity is at an all time high, economy is in shambles, every sector of the country has been on a steady decline. Four more years in the hands of this government is a suicide mission. Whatever be their plans, this Government must be stopped by all means necessary come 2027.
Re: E-Transmission: Opposition Stood For Nigerians, Did Their Best – Rep Member by NewHe: 8:12am On Feb 18
And the other reps represent who? Foreigners?
I doubt if these opposition knew what's called #democracy #politics!
How many Nigerians even approved the nonsense all( ruling, opposition, and NASS protesting Parties) of them are doing?
It's the people that holds power to determine electoral victory and must not be teleguided by whatsoever methods!
Let election be 1man-1vote that's all!
Re: E-Transmission: Opposition Stood For Nigerians, Did Their Best – Rep Member by fedorahat: 8:19am On Feb 18
The beauty of democracy is options, my option does not need to align with yours, it only needs to be respected.

I prefer manual transmission, it's easier to tamper electronically than manually.

Suggest possible way they can be stopped. It would have been through E- transfer of results but the majority of the parliamentarian decline.
My concern is, I just hope these their actions wouldn't give the military the impetus to strike.

Most people don't understand, just because their person is the president. Whatever reforms tinubu delivers without reforming our electoral will be reversed once wrong person enters .
