I support electronic transmission but we need to ask ourselves some question. For example, if saboteur cut Anambra state off of Internet on election day, what happened to results there?
Simple, Anambra state election will be postponed to the next day.
Again, if you use a service like Starlings, there wouldn't be any wires to cut.
Yes, there could still be hackers but I am sure Starlings will do everything in their power to prevent all forms of sabotage.

We look for the saboteurs before they do it. Is it that easy to cut off a state off network without trace? We look for the cutters and cut them off the Earth's network.

INEC by law would be legally binded to make adequate preparations for that and whatever results that was gathered on the IRev would be justiciable. INEC would be empowered to put in safe guards that will protect election results from whatever attack. I promise you, ballot box snatching won't matter any more.

Not one man will pay his way to gather and mutilate result forms and become a supreme court governor

Not news! Anyway, what they are asking for is not realisable in Nigeria today. It is best to have what we now have awaiting assent which is a dual mode of election results transmission. it ensures that where e-transmission fails the manual can be relied upon. Even in the banking industry that is digitised and touted as the model for the demand for ONLY e-transmission of results, there is a paper trail retained just so the digital footprints has issues. Most of the politicians who voted against are bitter politicians. By the way, there are few politicians across the political spectrum who do not rig elections. They will not dare swear by the gods that kill quickly that it is not so.

Majority carries the vote and that's the beauty of democracy. So I see nothing wrong. I often do advocate voting the right people into the parliament. I also pray we find a way to make the local government much more vibrant, by so doing governance will be close to the people and we will be able to checkmate those in power.

For a transparent election, electronic transmission is the best, but the majority currently have it in the legislature and we can do nothing for now. Let's respect their decision and wait till we have the right majority in the parliament
What is the use of voting the right people if the elections are rigged?
I would love to hear the argument of senators that voted against electronic transmission.
Re: The 15 Senators Who Voted FOR Mandatory Real-time Transmission Clause Are: by Tammy2705: 9:41am On Feb 18
truth be told this apc government is afraid of free and fair elections, thats why they are against the electronic transfer of votes, which is inevitable any ways, if they claim there are so popular then let there be electronic transfer of votes, I dare them to do this

It's not possible and if they provide network they must make provision for back up network in case the first one gives fault

You suspend voting until internet is restored. You then resume voting.
For now, they have given INEC Chairman the power to select who is going to be what in political leadership of Nigeria.

Thank God for the Internet, if not the people from SW in few years would have rewrite history stating senators from the SW voted vehemently for mandatory e-transmission of results and it was Abaribe that fought against it.

You cancel the election. Have you heard of Re-run elections before?

What if currently, terrorists cut of access to your village, how will you move the manual result?

INEC itself already answered this question few years ago. They said that even if there's no network, you can still upload the election results. The machine will automatically connect to phone network and deliver the result once it's in a location that has network. It works the same way your phone goes on and off network

Technology can handle this if we really want it to work. Take note that you do not need a strong network to do this transmission, even a very bad 3G or 2G network is ok, so worst case, assuming Anambra is cut off, the data is safe on the device till they enter another location, and mind you, provision can be made for a dedicated internet device

The bottom line is, we do not want it

If we continue waiting, we will wait forever.
Now is the time it's either mandatory real time transmission of results or no elections.

We cannot leave the future of over 200 million Nigerians in the hand of few individuals who has decided to take as fools. Enough is enough, Nigerians must get it right now or never.

Let's pass the right electoral bill and whoever that wins will be generally accepted.
Unfortunately, nothing can be done once it's passed. Majority carries the vote. It's one of the disadvantages of democracy

The beauty of democracy is wen the legislators are doing the biddings of those who they are representing and not not personal interest.

Policies makers should introduce policies that will do good to nations building and personal benefits.
I agree with you. But this is Nigeria where they collect money from them during electioneering. The legislator then tries to recoup his spendings when he gets to power. They protect their personal interests and ignore the interest of the masses. God help us
