Is it wrong to approach God through lesser deities? The Muslims say you should pray to God alone and no one else. The Yoruba also pray to God as a reflex action but the more acceptable way culturally is that if you need anything special from God then you should go through lesser deities. These lesser deities maybe your ancestors, national figures or resident spirits inside natural resources. The difference should not have mattered if the Muslims had been reasonable. Even before Islam, there were Yoruba that did not go along with approaching God through lesser deities. One is the well known Olofin Aye, Olofin Adeja It is just a clash in ideology. If you can seek connection to the President through his aides then there is nothing wrong in seeking connection to God through lesser deities. It should not be considered wrong by the Muslims and they should stop trying to force the society to see idolatry as wrong. They should pray to God directly or worship only God and stop haranguing people who choose to use another approach. It is not wrong to approach God through lesser deities as the Muslims want us to believe but if you feel you have the wherewithal to approach God directly, why not? There is no reason for the difference to be a reason for wars. |

You're wrong or either your prompting you're Muslim worship, because is the very people that worship God through other means or lesser god as put it,so don't pretend as if you don't know what you people do, for Muslims, anything goes, |

jom28gy:I don't really get your English. Anything goes for Muslim? That is not correct. Muslims have been wired from the get go to be at war with idolators. It has been like that since the day of Prophet Mohammed |

The greatest sin is Islam is the association of partners to Allah especially in worship! Anyone who dies in that will never be in paradise but hell forever. |

Rashduct4luv:Where is the proof? People should be banned from saying this in public. Allowing people to say whatever they like about God in public is a cause of huge problems in this world. If your father can not be this mean, why would you agree the same about God? |

lawani:Proof? In Islam, shirk (associating partners with Allah) is unequivocally the greatest sin. This is supported by clear evidence from the Qur’an and Sunnah: Qur’anic Evidence: Allah says in the Qur’an: “Indeed, Allah does not forgive association with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills. And whoever associates others with Allah has certainly fabricated a tremendous sin.”— Surah An-Nisa (4:48) This verse explicitly states that shirk is the only sin Allah will not forgive if one dies upon it without repentance, highlighting its unparalleled severity. Another verse states: “Indeed, the worst of sins is shirk.” — Surah Luqman (31:13) Hadith Evidence: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “Avoid the seven destructive sins.” They said, “O Messenger of Allah, what are they?” He said, “Associating others with Allah (shirk), sorcery, killing a soul whom Allah has forbidden to kill except by right, consuming usury, consuming the property of an orphan, fleeing on the day of battle, and slandering chaste, innocent, believing women.” — Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim Shirk is mentioned first among the gravest sins, indicating its supreme severity. Conceptual Reasoning: Shirk is the greatest injustice because it violates the fundamental right of Allah to be worshipped alone. It contradicts the very essence of Tawhid (the oneness of Allah), which is the foundation of Islam. Shirk is the greatest sin in Islam because it directly opposes the core belief in the oneness of Allah, is unforgivable if one dies upon it without repentance, and is repeatedly emphasized in the Qur’an and Sunnah as the gravest offense. |

Dying on Shirk and Hell! Allah says: “Indeed, Allah does not forgive association with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills. And whoever associates others with Allah has certainly gone far astray.” — Surah An-Nisa (4:116) Also: “Indeed, those who disbelieve and commit wrong [or injustice]—never will Allah forgive them, nor will He guide them to a path, except the path of Hell; they will abide therein forever. And that is ever easy for Allah.” — Surah An-Nisa (4:168-169) And: “Indeed, the polytheists will be in the punishment of Hell, abiding eternally.” — Surah An-Nisa (4:56) Hadith Evidence The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “Whoever dies while associating partners with Allah will enter Hell.” — Sahih Muslim |

Rashduct4luv:No rational person. No gentleman will do this thing you are saying. No gentleman will burn people in hell for idolatry or unbelief yet you are saying God does it without providing any proof?. Can your father do such? This thing Muslims do should be illegal in any nation that wants peace |

Rashduct4luv:You shouldn't use a lower moral standard for God than you use for your father. God should be more morally sound than your father and not less |
| Re: Is It Wrong To Approach God Through Lesser Deities? by Rashduct4luv(m): 1:53pm On Feb 18 |
lawani:How do you classify what is sound and what is not? God created me! So why will i worship others than Him? My father gave birth to me and nutured me! And that's why i call him father and no one else! |
| Re: Is It Wrong To Approach God Through Lesser Deities? by lawani(op): 1:56pm On Feb 18 |
Rashduct4luv:You worship, greet, genuflect and pander to people all the time. It is part and parcel of human nature. To think that is only meant for God is rather naive |
| Re: Is It Wrong To Approach God Through Lesser Deities? by Rashduct4luv(m): 2:07pm On Feb 18 |
lawani:I don't worship people! Neither do i genuflect but i do greet. Of course to worship Allah without partners is the reason we are created! Allah says in Quran 51:56: I did not create jinn and humans except to worship Me. |
| Re: Is It Wrong To Approach God Through Lesser Deities? by lawani(op): 2:16pm On Feb 18 |
Rashduct4luv:Don't believe the Quran! Why do you think Allah in all his Majesty will throw a tantrum over you or anybody worshipping a jinn? How does that take anything from Allah?. Believe me, Allah is not bothered by such. It is basic common sense |
| Re: Is It Wrong To Approach God Through Lesser Deities? by Rashduct4luv(m): 8:34am On Feb 19 |
lawani:Of course i won't be a Muslim if i don't believe in the Qur'an! Allah is our creator! And He has legislated us to worship Him alone without partners! So your "basic common sense" is compound ignorance! Here are ten verses where Allah commands Muslims to worship Him alone without partners: Surah An-Nisa (4:36) “Worship Allah and associate nothing with Him, and to parents do good...” Surah Al-An’am (6:162-163) “Say, ‘Indeed, my prayer, my rites of sacrifice, my living and my dying are for Allah, Lord of the worlds. No partner has He. And this I have been commanded, and I am the first [among you] of the Muslims.’” Surah Al-Isra (17:23) “And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him...” Surah Al-Baqarah (2:21) “O mankind, worship your Lord, who created you and those before you, that you may become righteous.” Surah Al-Zumar (39:11) “Say, ‘Indeed, I have been commanded to worship Allah, [being] sincere to Him in religion.’” Surah Al-Mu’minun (23:52) “And indeed this, your religion, is one religion, and I am your Lord, so fear Me.” Surah Al-Ankabut (29:17) “So worship Allah, [being] sincere to Him in religion.” Surah Al-Furqan (25:58) “And rely upon the Ever-Living who does not die and exalt [Allah] with His praise...” Surah Al-Tawbah (9:31) “They have taken their scholars and monks as lords besides Allah...” (Warning against associating partners) Surah Al-Imran (3:51) “Say, ‘Indeed, I am the messenger of Allah to you all, [from Him] to whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. There is no deity except Him; He gives life and causes death.’” |

Rashduct4luv:Do you agree that before the Quran and the Bible were published, cultures were existing side by side without feeling the need to attack and kill each other over God?. Do you think these books that brought war and strife are from God? Believe me they are not and what God approves is the status quo that existed before Christianity and Islam. The status quo that existed before religion |
| Re: Is It Wrong To Approach God Through Lesser Deities? by Rashduct4luv(m): 9:00am On Feb 20 |
lawani:Do you agree that people do kill each other without any religious intonation just like the Russia vs Ukraine war and US (plus UK, Poland and Australia) vs Iraq war? Just these two wars resulted in more than two million deaths! People that are meant to die will die and People that are meant to live will live. Is this the "status quo" you want? Anyone can die anytime! Death is part of everyone's destiny! |
| Re: Is It Wrong To Approach God Through Lesser Deities? by lawani(op): 10:16am On Feb 20 |
Rashduct4luv:Yes people do kill each other for reasons other than religion but that should not make you support them killing each other over religion. Religion is just another reason or excuse for people to kill each other which did not exist two thousand years ago. We don't need new manmade reasons to kill each other. |

lawani:You still haven't given us any proof? Prophet Muhammad (salallahu alayhi wasalam) said it clearly. Narrated `Umar: I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) saying, "Do not exaggerate in praising me as the Christians praised the son of Mary, for I am only a Slave. So, call me the Slave of Allah and His Apostle." Sahih al-Bukhari 3445 |
