My Parent's Farm In Pictures by JAPAHTML(op): 4:48pm On Feb 19
Hi Nairalanders,
‎I visited my parents in the village a few weeks ago and it was honestly refreshing. Fresh air, calm surroundings, and absolutely no noise pollution. Just peace.
‎My parents are farmers. They don’t run a large commercial operation, but it’s definitely more than just subsistence farming.

‎They cultivate cassava, Rice and yam, and my dad also owns a sizeable palm tree plantation.

I always like visiting home because I genuinely love the environment and the simple lifestyle. There’s something about the village that just resets your mind, everything is fresh, The air, food literally everything

‎During this visit, I took a photo of my dad’s yam barn and other photos too and decided to share it with the Nairaland family. This is the traditional method our forefathers used to preserve yam after harvest, keeping it safe and fresh until the next planting season.

‎Scroll and Enjoy

Interesting picture story...

Your mom looks young and fit. I'm sure eating good and fresh food from the farm is a contributing factor.

This is how our African ancestors lived before the arrival of the white man. Every food straight from their farms. No processed GMO what not. Everything natural and fresh.

With good bush meat and some fresh palm wine to digest and relax. wink

Those our African ancestors lived the good life. Nowadays, people spend time chasing money and things they don't need even at the detriment of their health- life has become a rat race.

Simple life is bae. Most people that still live that life don't know what they are enjoying!

I think the fruits are loquats.

They're rare, because I've never seen them before, not to talk of tasting them.
[Only got to know about them when I was researching fruits that can thrive in hot climates]

Omo! There are so many varieties of fruit that can grow in Nigeria, that we have not even explored.

Op, your parents are rich and living the best life.
Agriculture is life.

Lovely farm, lovely products and lovely farmer there

But Op, please n please I beg you in the name of almighty, You and your mum should be very wary of the presence of Snakes around.

Lately, I dunno what has come over our snakes. They now bite to kill.

Agriculture is bae . A coded way that has been enriching alot of people.

Something I'll soon venture into.

Op,your parents are wealthy people. And from your mom's appearance, she looks so young and energetic. Must be courtesy of the natural food she must be getting from her farms.
Re: My Parent's Farm In Pictures by Emmy000seun(m): 6:12pm On Feb 19

Most of our African traditional knowledge of healing/medicine has been lost...

Or not transfered to the next generation over time.

Learn what you can while you still have access to such knowledge.

I can see you are very proud of your parents.✔️

Still waiting for the antelope hunting picture from your dad. That man is really living life! wink

You grow rice in Abia state? Wow!

After processing, are some of the rice sold or they're only for household consumption?
