I think this one week rest will definitely do our players some good. They've been playing every 3 days since January.

Werey didn't even bother to check VAR. Na fam, this is witchcraft.

The state of refereeing in Laliga is like that of the NPL. I think during the last UCL or the one before that, no Laliga ref was selected by UEFA similar to how no NPL ref was allowed in AFCON. It's one of the reasons why EPL is far ahead of the league.

Meanwhile, Barca didn't take their chances, they also missed a pen and played too open making Garcia go make saves after save.

So they lost because of themselves and then the ref. Kounde was fouled similar to how Kubo was fouled and Fermin's goal was ruled out Vs Real Sociaeda.

It has absolutely turned to a joke. It is painful to see the lack of consistency by the referees each week and the decisions are always against the same club. I bet you that if Barcelona had scored that goal, there is no way they will allow it. Any goal Barca scored, it must be the beyond reasonable doubt that it is a genuine goal otherwise they will invent one rule to disallow it (also see our goal against Atletico on Thursday and Real Sociedad) but ones an opponent scores against Barca, even if it is a wrong goal, they find a reason to allow it.

It doesn't matter if Barca writes a letter of complaint to RFEF or CFA, they don't care. They apply whatever rule fits them provided it goes against Barcelona. They go to VAR when it pleases them and they ignore it when it pleases them. The league has turned to a joke. The same referee gives different judgement to same offense based on how he feels about it. And on each occasion, the outcome is the same - ensure it goes against Barca.

It doesn't matter if we played bad. I don't believe we must play perfect in each game to win. I don't care how many chances Girona had. While there is still time in a football match, anything can happen. Referees must not decide the outcome of matches. Our last two defeats in Laliga has been decided by referees against Real Sociedad and now Girona. This is not fairplay. This is outright manipulation and corruption.

This defeat feels worse with all these constant horrible refereeing decisions going against Barca each week. Our opponents are not the ones beating us, it is the referees that are defeating us . We have lost 6 points now, all because of shocking refereeing decisions against us.

Claudio Echeverri: “Yes, I stepped on Koundé’s foot, but I was running at speed and didn’t do it on purpose. If the referee had given it as a foul, I would have understood.”

Laliga referees are bad!! You know it’s very bad you see comments like this from the opponents.

The VAR referee of the Girona-Barça match, David Gálvez, has received the most severe sanction among the referees of this matchday and will be suspended for a set period due to his blatant error. The Technical Committee of Referees has ruled that Echeverri’s studs-up challenge on Jules Koundé was a very clear and reckless foul, deserving a yellow card, and that the VAR intervention to disallow the goal was justified.

So who will recompense us for the points we lost?😞
Re: Fc Barcelona Fan Thread: "més Que Un Club" by jpmoriarti(m): 10:30am On Feb 18
Some of Soto Grado's refereeing which have directly impacted Barcelona's matches in a negative way are -

- The show began away at Getafe in 2020. He failed to even book Alan Nyom of Getafe after a string of fouls on Messi and Ansu Fati. He awared a penalty to Getafe after minimal contact by de Jong. Getafe won 1-0 and then coach Ronald Koeman did not hold back post-match.

- In 2023/24, away at Getafe which ended 0-0 he failed to give Barcelona a penalty in the last moments after a clear foul on Araujo. In the same match, he also sent off coach Xavi for 'leaving his technical area with arms raised and protesting one of his decisions'.

- A month and half later after Getafe, away at Granada with the match 2-2, Joao Felix scored in the last minutes to give Barcelona the lead but Soto Grado ruled the goal out because Ferran Torres was apparently intefering the play from an offside position when he was actually far from it and did not get involved.

- In the same season in the Clasico at the Bernabeu, he firstly awarded a soft penalty to Real Madrid when Vazquez ran into Cubarsi and then did not give Lamine Yamal's goal when the ball had clearly crossed the line.

- Last season, away at Rayo Vallecano with the score at 1-1 he ruled out a goal by Lewandowski for an apparent foul by Kounde in the build up. Thankfully Barca went on to win that match 1-2.

- In the league Clasico earlier this season, he failed to see Huijsen's elbow to Cubarsi in Real Madrid's second goal and then did not give Barcelona a penalty for Carvajal's push on Araujo.

- Then obviously came the Girona match 2 days ago.

We officially have a problem with this referee now. This can't be conicidence.

Abdul if we get to at least the quarters of the UCL or win laliga can we get enough financial margin to try for either osimhen or Alvarez
It depends on the asking price of these players. Alvarez? I highly doubt it. I don't think Atleti will ask anything below €120-140mn. That's above our pay grade for now on a single player.

What I can tell you is that in my opinion and the little I can observe and predict on our financials; I'd like to think Barca can go for a €70mn purchase. We can go for €100mn spending as well but that will most likely be helped with a significant sale or income of around €20mn+. And I doubt we would want to splash €100mn this soon on a single player.

The key now, is how quickly we get the approval to finally fill up our current stadium 62k capacity. So once we get that and steady attendance and the expected sum, we can at least spend €100mn overall this summer. What might be some really good boost is if Limak the construction company can start installing the VIP boxes before this summer and in active use. That way the money we sold the boxes for would be validated. So that one probably takes care of player sales or not.

This is guess work, but more calculated guesswork based on us returning back to Camp Nou and the clubs published expected earnings.

We're most likely surpassing €1bn revenue this season/fiscal year (last year= €950mn)....salary-to-revenue ratio sits at 54% currently from a high of 98% few years ago. UEFA's recommendation is 70%.
So we pretty much good in the books. What's remaining is to finally ratify it in the next transfer window.

So looking at these..... €100mn-120mn spending war chest is pretty doable. If we make good sales, even better.

Osimhen? Yep. He's purchasable so far his salary demands isn't crazy. Which I hear is the problem purchasing him. Might be rumors tho, but who knows. Either way, Barca can actually afford him if we're offloading Lewandowski and his high salary.

After spending days complaining of referees, you now realise the team is full of average players. At least, you are back to reality.

This is so wrong on so many levels angry angry

First and foremost, there is no law that says we must play well each time to win matches. We have won matches in the past even not playing very well. Not playing well doesn't mean referees should cancel our legal goals or award illegal goals to our opponents. This is not how it works!

Every team suffers from a slump in form during a long season. These players have been playing every 3 days nonstop since the start of the year with a very thin squad.

Context is important before you unfairly criticize a team that have already won a trophy this season and call them weak.

I totally disagree that we shouldn't complain about how unfair the referees have been against Barcelona and how their horrible decisions have costed us dearly in so many matches, just because we didn't play well in some matches.

REFEREES SHOULD NEVER DETERMINE THE OUTCOME OF MATCHES.

Leaving my doors open does not mean thieves are allowed to come in and steal and then go scot free. Yes I should close my doors but thieves must be punished nonetheless.

It is abnormal that we have had 10 big VAR errors go against us this season while no other team has had 5. Our last two laliga loss have been mired with controversial decisions which has caused us to lose ground on the title race.

No, I won't keep quiet because I want to be politically correct like you. You're free to dream about a Barca which steamroll over its opponents each week, which never plays poorly and wins regularly regardless of how pathethic the referees are. I will tell you to dream on.

I am not one of you fans who think Barca must play well each time to win matches. I am a realist and I understand that context matters.

Gavi is 𝐁𝐀𝐂𝐊! He’s resumed group training today.

Honestly, I have almost forgotten about Gavi. Chai, out of sight, is out of mind.

Hopefully, he regains match fitness and is able to help the team as we enter the business end of the season.

Apart from the ragged defense and maybe a lack of protection via a DM in midfield. The rest of the team is okay to compete this season. We have to reduce or abolish the highline too

Sales ke. How many players honestly want to leave Barça even if a tempting offer comes? What I just need us to do is focus mainly on that defence. Alvarez is superb but overpriced and might not even be what we are looking for as regards striker profile cause we need a box dominator and target man who'll be on the end of the multiple chances we create, I think osimhen (as of now since there's a dearth of quality strikers in today's market) might fit that if we can come to a compromise with Galatasaray, if not then it's probably vlahovic they'll get us, we just need to get at least two CBs or one monster that would elevate our backline then focus on getting two fullbacks for either flank then player sales of course. Players must leave to create space and income . But let's see how the season goes and if we'll hear something different this summer other than we need 50m to reach 1:1

Chief Alvarez is good but doesn't fit our profile of striker (ball hugger, false/supporting 9. not superbly clinical) plus is not worth that amount

It's even crazy considering he was gradually getting back into form before his relapse, he was also superb for us before de la Fuente made him get injured in the first place, I just hope he stays fit and gets himself so our midfield doesn't look lost everytime pedri is unavailable though tbf pedri can't be replaced in this team

No striker is superly clinical because they must miss chances and you wouldn't like a ball hugger that will be selfish or delay a goal scoring opportunity.

So your excuses are not sufficient. You're simply broke simple and you wouldn't be saying this if it was yamal.
