FreeStuffsNG:My friend getaway from here. When was Ikeja built and developed? Ikeja was developed during the oil boom years, with oil from the old eastern region. Get out from my comment |

Brendaniel:But why are you pretending to be this dense? Whatever projects, investments by the FG was in Lagos Island and not the whole of Lagos. |
| Re: Aerial View Of The Famous Police College Ikeja, Lagos In The 1930s by Brendaniel: 2:46pm On Feb 08 |
T9ksy:So Lagos airport, Air force base, Police college, Ikeja Army cantoment, Ikeja GRA were all on the island abi? |
| Re: Aerial View Of The Famous Police College Ikeja, Lagos In The 1930s by T9ksy(m): 2:57pm On Feb 08 |
Brendaniel:Those afore-mentioned infrastructures were built by the colonial govt and not by the FG, as you keep insinuating. |
| Re: Aerial View Of The Famous Police College Ikeja, Lagos In The 1930s by Brendaniel: 3:12pm On Feb 08 |
T9ksy:Let's even assume you are right, the money they used was federal money that belonged to Nigeria as a country because they were all under federal projects, secondly, take it easy with your trying to rewrite history...

Brendaniel:Just read up on the history of the Western Region. I don't need to look for proof. I grew up in that era. Welcome to Western Region signboard was at Fadeyi, on Ikorodu Rd. |

delpee:So why was the Airport at Ikeja called Lagos airport from inception ? |
| Re: Aerial View Of The Famous Police College Ikeja, Lagos In The 1930s by delpee(f): 9:50pm On Feb 20 |
Brendaniel:The airport was first built during WW2 and in the colonial era. It wasn't built by the Western Region. The colonial authorities could make use of land anywhere they deemed fit. It was modernised in the late 70s. |
| Re: Aerial View Of The Famous Police College Ikeja, Lagos In The 1930s by Brendaniel: 6:48am On Feb 21 |
delpee:My question is: why was it called Lagos airport from inception since you people always claim those parts were not Lagos but south west region. Why wasn't it ever called south west Airport? |

nairalanda1:Life was better then than now I guess. Of course they had challenges then but now society has bigger challenges. They didn't worry so much about food nor high rents. Savage crimes were minimal. People were more contented. They respected one another more. And look how uncongested that place is. Even Ibadan and osogbo are congested today. You hardly see any green space in any town or village today. Everywhere na so so concrete, heat and noise. |

Predictor3:Actually, they did. Also, you won't like to live in a house from back then. Savage crimes were minimal. People were more contented. They respected one another more.Largely because arms and ammo were more difficult to get, I guess. And look how uncongested that place is. Even Ibadan and osogbo are congested today.Populaiton of Nigeria in 1940, seven years after the photo was taken : 40 million people POpulation of Nigeria today...230 million and growing. You hardly see any green space in any town or village today. Everywhere na so so concrete, heat and noise.Because Nigerians are corrupt jokers. Every city had planned green spaces...but then people bribe officials to build on them. Even Abuja where I live, it has a lot of green spaces...some of which has been built on..because someone paid bribes. |

Predictor3:So, you want us to go back in time to when most people didn't have potable water, when most people didn't own a radio, when owning a television was a pipedream, when owning a car was for the very very very rich, and when most people didin;t have light AT ALL (this is not NEPA taking your light, this is not even having light at all, no connection to the grid), and when many major highways didn't exist, plus you want us to lose 190 million people...so that we can have the life you want? Where even most people didn't own a telephone and when computers were a dream in people's minds? LOL...better stop being nostalgic. Life was hard for most people back then. Even worse than it is now. |

Predictor3:If they put you in that era you will complain till kingdom come. Who told you they didn't worry about food? So you don't know that malnutrition and infant mortality figures were highest during the colonial era? You people are so ignorant, it's sad. Go on ChatGPT and ask about infant mortality rates etc in 1950s versus 2026. SOMEBODY NEEDS TO DRUM INTO YOUR HEADS that the COLONIAL ERA was one of PLUNDER of the Nigerian economy and resources by the British invaders. The very reason for INVADING AND COLONISING a country, is to exploit its resources for the benefit of the invading country. It's not to develop YOU and make your lives better. IT WAS TO STEAL FROM YOU!! $50 TRILLION is the amount Britain looted in Nigerian resources, according to ChatGPT AI calculations. That's why we were underdeveloped in 1960, and lacked even a single power plant, university, or industry worthy of the name, despite your almighty "oyinbo" ruling for nearly a century. |

Kushites:Not ignorance, nostalgia For example, a lot of Europeans romantscise the era of knights and chivalry...to the point that films and so forth have been made about those days. And if any one of them was made to live in those days , dem go see e no easy at all. NO modern anemites whatsoever, no light, no potable water, and if you got injured...operations were done without painkillers. A king of england who lived in the 15th century was shot in the face with an arrow. The arrow was removed (gradually) without anesthesia. Yes, e painful Even the 1940's, some americans romaticise those times. Meanwhile...medical care for people with hypertension in those days, for example, was atrocious. |

TokoEkambi:Worse when people can't even differentiate between a city and a state in their own state. If you don't know your locality how can you even know another man's language? Deal with your identity confusion first. |

Kushites:Always arguing blindly. Don't let your hatred for white people make you mad. They gave you the phone in your hand, the clothestyle you wear and many more. Besides I wasn't talking about white people. I don't know what brought white people into this. Why are you always talking about them if you weren't secretly admiring them? If you didn't think they were above you, you wouldn't always be talking about them. You are obsessed. I was talking about how simple and green the environment was then against now before you started saying nonsense. My neighbourhood in the 80s and 90s was one of the cleanest and pristine placed in Ibadan. There was a clear silvery river where we could swim and fish. The houses were fee and planned. No one goes near the river today. It's a dumpsite, so to say. He's talking about mortality rate in Nigeria. It was high. It's still the highest in the world. So what are you saying. Nigeria's still arguably the poorest country in the world in terms of population. So what are you arguing about? He's talking about education improving. We are still number one in terms of out of school children. So what are you arguing about? Weve managed to add terrorism to it. And a few new diseases here and there. 😁😁😁😁 |

Brendaniel:Yes, because that was their decision and you want to know why. |
| Re: Aerial View Of The Famous Police College Ikeja, Lagos In The 1930s by Brendaniel: 12:47pm On Mar 06 |
delpee:I already know why, it is you that is denying the why, the why is because it was all part of Lagos, since you are saying it was not, you have to give a reason why the airport in Ikeja was called Lagos from its foundation. |
