Let me share my experience with The Elevation Church General Overseer, Pastor Godsman Akinlabi. I attend the headquarters at Lekki for 1 year during my 400L IT as at 2023. Life is so hard for my family and final year resumption was approaching but I was yet to pay my school fees. As a member of the church, I discussed with the head admin and junior pastor that I wanna see the Pastor, they kept giving different excuses. Eventually, I narrated my problem to them, and one of the church leaders said that "this church is too big to be seeing pastor for just #87k school fees, this church is for well to do people, what are you doing here if you can't handle #87k, sort yourself Mr man" I was so sad and went home crying after service that day. I reached out to Pastor Godsman himself on LinkedIn, he read my message and didn't reply, I texted him again, I think he blocked me or so, I will check my LinkedIn again to confirm. Laslas, God raised a stranger for me, this man lives in the US, we connected on LinkedIn and he sent me #100k. I sent him my convocation award and he was so proud of the CGPA I graduated with. A very strong 2.1 from OAU engineering. Most of these pastors ehnn. I'm an instrumentalist and I've been scammed by a Redeem pastor before, he refused to pay me my one month salary. I played guitar for a whole 1 month moving from Lekki to Ikorodu every weekend with my money and he didn't pay me a dime. God will judge the matter. I'm about the complete my NYSC, and looking for a job. In case anyone here can help, I will really appreciate. |

The beginning and end of this story is to put your faith in God and not in any man - Pope, Bishop, Imam, Sheik, politician, relatives, etc. Let God be true and every man a liar. Has God not proved Himself faithful in your life without the financial assistance of Mr "I am dangerously very wealthy"? To God alone be all the glory. Our help is in God the maker of the heaven and earth - Psalm 124:8. |

[/
I knew someone who had same encounter with him at raji oba church. The most painfully was, the man actually made it part of the sermon that evening. Insisting no elders should render help to anyone. Religion is the opium of the poor. Church is their business enterprise. Religion is the sigh of the oppress |

Zionmdde:Well the pastor should have asked him the relevant questions needed to confirm if he was a Bonafide member, by referring him to apply through his cell or branch pastor and assist with the little they can. What the pastor missed here is 'EMPATHY' which Jesus showed to blind Bartimeus in the bible. No matter how we want to defend the church in cases like these, we always end up sounding wicked and unintelligent. yes the church can't help everyone but it must be seen to have helped some persons verifiably in times of needs The church of today be like Tinubu govt, they spend a lot to make outsiders see them as good but inward they are evil. I am a Christian and I don't pray to find myself in situations that will make me seek the Church's financial help RCCG Apapa family once donated N50m to UNILAG as social welfare donation (CSR) but their indigent member parishes are struggling to pay their church rent without help. Make it make sense! |

I don't want to sound insensitive but we really need to cut churches some slack. The fact that you attend their churches is not a licence to start dumping your problems on them. Common. Everybody should go to church with their needs then now. |

Typical entitlement mentality of Nigerians and the gullible hoard will jump on the story to share their hate. Thousands have been sponsored by the church to school at different levels without them knowing the Bishop personally. The Church has a system that identifies its members and provides different forms of assistance to the needy among them. A lot of time many strangers show up claiming heaven and earth just so they can get aid, while those who are serving in the church are denied this same support. So the church uses its Home fellowship to identify those who are truly in need. The house fellowship is usually made up of neighbors who live close by who can verify claims of need and confirm to the church authorities who have the capacity to help. In many cases help may even come from other members of that local house fellowship or from service units even before it gets to the main church authority. Standing on the road to see the Bishop to ask for help will not work, countless people use such means too. It is different when the church itself goes for outreach in a community where everyone they encounter who have a need is helped. |

ERockson:U r very correct that is y u don't put ur trust in any man no matter who or what he is . God is the ultimate n no so called man of God can stand in the place of the Almighty , Alpha and Omega, the creator of the heavens and the Earth. The Lord made d author of the story know that he is God n no man comes close , God even made it possible for him to be abroad working, without d help of any man of God |

brain54:We have an entitlement mentality, no one, not even TB Joshua can help everybody that comes for help, if Oyedepo take a record of help requests he receives daily, it might shock you the number.....So everybody should struggle for themselves and stop hating those who doesn't help...this issue also affects rich men too, theyake it look like they are bad people. |

Oyedepo can never give you shishi lailai. Having being in the church for close to four years, I was able to understand the businessman-pastor modus operandi. His aim is to make the money by using his sheepies in anyway possible. He does not care. He does not give a d.amn. He does not give shishi. He only gives stinginess. |

Why not sponsor this one too? It's not even about the sponsorship, it's about how they were disregarded and dismissed. Abegi stop defending what's not. Religion is part of our problems in Naija. The law needs to end religion, practice of any religion should be illegal. Only charity and philanthropy should the recognized by the state. davidque: |

I have always received help from my pastor when I need them, be part of the assignment, pastor also need help, how much have you as a person try to be of help to your pastor. I will recommend serve in church actively in a ministry group, I have met all sort of good people in church. I live with a family in Lagos for one year, had access to driver and everything in the house and I met the husband in church, the day he realized he doesn’t know anyone in my family was the day I went to get my visa and he couldn’t reach me on phone and he was looking for who he could call. My first car abroad a brother in church bought it for me When I needed accommodation, a brother gave me his visitors room without asking when I will be leaving. |

Somehow people are missing the point . Rely ONLY on God . I grew up being fiercely independent. I have always attributed my life to God. People who I met for a short period of time have been of greater blessings to me than people I knew for donkey years. All my life I always rely on God. Anyone who relies on humans will always be disappointed. Some people will meet you for the first time and help you immediately while there are some people begging the same person for help for years without result ! It is not about humans . It is about your personal relationship and reliance on God. No president , no pastor , no minister , no uncle or rich friend will help you unless God mandates it. |

nairalanda1:Just one question for you , if the boy was present during the days of Peter James and John and the church had grown such that they didn't handle the affairs of the church physically but this nurse happened to chance Peter on the streets or gathering and cried for help what do you think Peter would have done ? 1. Help him 2. Refer him to the deacons 3. Refer him to the roman government or sanhedrin Your answer would let me know if you actually understand anything about jesus and his standard of measurements. By the way remember in his story oyedepo told him to go to lagos bursary not even to any church welfare department. |
