Today a friend chatted me up and was seeking for advice if it's okay to sell 2 plots of land from the 4 he inherited from his father..
I told him not to sell it cos he is barely 30 and still have a long way to go..

It occured to me that I actually inherited nothing 😂
Everything I have ,
I've worked so hard for it.
.I wondered would my life have been easier if I was left with anything?

Jesus is actually all we need....He is the source of our sustenance.
Mine left me with Jesus, and oh, no better inheritance than that!

Why did you advise him not to sell because he has a long way to go??
What if he needs the money to get himself established and make the long way easier and less stressful for him?
Your focus should have been on what he intends to use the money for.

We are creating our own for our own children, I didn't inherit anything from my dad, today, I have bought 2 plots of land for my 2 daughters.

Na surname we inherit why saying we didn't inherit anything.

If your parents has sponsored your education up to university level, you have inherited everything on earth....

Same boat as OP. Inherited absolutely nothing in terms of land, property, money. My parents did their best but they were also starting from zero and honestly just surviving.

But ahmedio2017 made a point that hit me — my parents paid school fees consistently. Never missed a term even when things were tight. That is actually worth something. Not everyone gets that. So I can't say zero.

Fisiryorh said something important though — the goal now is to break the cycle. I think about that a lot. Whatever I build, I want my own kids to start from a better position than I did. Doesn't have to be property necessarily, it can be good education, connections, skills. Just give them a head start.

As for OP's friend — now that you've explained he wants to use the money to jump into a business he knows nothing about, your advise was actually correct lol. Land appreciates. A business you dont understand will disappear. Classic Nigerian story — someone hypes a "lucrative" opportunity, brother sells asset, loses everything within a year.

That said, if he had a proper plan with the money and understood what he was getting into, selling 1 out of 4 plots wouldn't be the worst idea in the world. It's the "they said it's lucrative" part that is the red flag.

Those of us who inherited nothing honestly grind differently sha. Theres something that happens to your mentality when you know nobody is coming to bail you out.

Well my parent tried their best anyways..

Sadly they couldn't see me through tertiary level..

All they left me were memories, there prayers, morals and I've glad for all they did while they were here...

I inherited nothing from my father and today,I am doing extremely well because I decided to do one thing...

I extinguished that spirit of fear and decided to go it alone with my wife as my support base.

After that decision,my life began to take shape and work the way I planned it.

Judging by the comments, it's like most of you inherited nothing from your fathers, what were they doing throughout their lifetimes that they left you guys with nothing?🤔🤔🤔

I mean even my paternal grandfather who wasn't educated left a farm, livestock, a house, and a courtier title for each of his children.

Most people who STAY wealthy make their own money.
The saying is correct that if you jump up you'll fall back down but if you build up you'll stay up

*Note:
Some inheritances are actually curses and those who inherited them would have done better in life without them, and for some they lead to earlier death!

I inherited no Kobo from my father but I got a lot of training in hard work and good old school discipline.

Let him sell it and use the money to establish himself. That's if he is financially disciplined. Otherwise he shouldn't sell it

That question is unnecessary.
Just eat what's placed in front of you.
We don't get to choose our parents or blame them for whatever.
They did the best available to them.
Not perfect but they loved you with all their hearts.

All is vanity, what if the said inherited properties is not well managed by the next generation nko....just live life peacefully and pray what to use in sustaining life be available ND wahala no locate u. GIVE THANKS TO GOD ALWAYS.
