ogugwa1992:So, that highly IRRESPONSIBLE one-eyed Ijaw guy named John Togo is dead? It's good riddance to NONSENSE because he (John Togo) was heavily involved in several cases of armed robberies and sexual assaults of women in the Delta State waterways with his gang members before that so-called Niger Delta amnesty program kicked in. Update: On further online Investigations, I just found out that this despicable John Togo )who I FIRST read about back in the late 2000s in a Vanguard newspaper publication for being a serial sex offender and criminal who robbed and killed people going to the markets in boats in the Delta State creeks) got killed by Nigerian Air Force jet bombardments of his so-called militant hideout or camp in 2011. Kudos to the Nigerian Air Force on that success story. The then highly notorious pipeline vandal and crude oil thief called Government Ekpemupolo (Tompo) was nearly wiped out during the former President Yar'Adua's Presidency when the infamous "Camp 5" in Gbaramatu where Tompolo was hiding like a coward was massively bombarded after Tompolo and his boys killed several army personnel. |

AlphaTaikun:Togo died (was killed) after the amnesty around 2011 or there about. Report has it that he was so difficult to convince as he claim that his main ideas was regionalism to succeed from Nigeria, and not amnesty. I think he was from Ogodobri then. |

That John Togo showed Nigerian forces shege promax then. Very brutal..Now egberipapa is being celebrated as a multimillionaire or abi na billionaire.. na wa o. Asari dokubo, boyloff, tompolo, ateke tom, and some others I can't remember really terrorised the Nigerian government. All their boys were so brutal but very gentle on those expert traits even if they kidnap them. Only for the cameras they always vibrate, but when camera off, they were always nice to them, telling them they just wanted to create world attention to them in Niger Delta. Yaradua/ Jonathan era calmed everything down, if not by now, only God knows if Nigeria wouldn't have been at war within. |

It took an arms race for the government to take them seriously. Nigerian oil export was almost literally crippled by the MEND. There was no way out as the Nigerian Military and the oil companies could not match their fire power, the swampy terrain and dangerous creeks coupled with the very fetish diabolical involvement of the MEND GENERALS (Tompolo, Ateke Tom etc). Thank God for the wisdom of President Yar Adu & GEJ. The amnesty brought relative peace. |

gazilion:At the height of the conflict, it was beginning to affect global oil prices and that threatened President George Bush's reelection. OBJ was President. Bush had to prevail on OBJ to help resolve the issue. I remember Asari once said it that they used Presidential Jet to come pick him in the SS for talks in Abuja. One problem the military had with the ND militants was that as time went on, some of the soldiers deployed were sympathetic to militants from certain camps. There was a time that some soldiers went to attack some militants in the creeks. Along the line, their boat inexplicably capsized. The militants emerged from hiding, rescued the soldiers and sent them back alive. The following day, they contacted the authorities on where to pick up the weapons of these soldiers. But you see people like that John Togo, he was always killing soldiers and that was why he was killed and his boys hunted even after amnesty was declared. He was actually bombed by the NAF and his legs blown apart. After he died, soldiers were still hunting and killing his boys. You see Obasanjo and Yaradua, they are very highly regarded in the Niger Delta. |

Asari Dokubo, Boyloff, Tompolo, Ateke Tom, Mabeke, Togo, Egberipapa, and others are the real men who genuinely fought for the emancipation of the Niger Delta. They are unlike some cowards,in the south East, who are killing the same people — their own kinsmen — whom they claim to be fighting for, while declaring senseless “Monday sit-at-home” actions every now and then. |
