The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced Joshua Ishaku, of the APC, has won the election for the chairmanship of the Bwari Area Council.

APC: 18,466 votes

JUST IN: APC candidate wins Bwari chairmanship seat in FCT polls

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Joshua Ishaku as the winner of the Bwari area council chairmanship election in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Mohammed Nurudeen, the returning officer for the election, announced the results on Sunday morning.

Maybe opposition will wake up to see that they are not the only Nigerians. They never hold themselves accountable, they will say "Nigerians are demanding, it's APC versus Nigerians", etc. As if the majority in APC are from Malawi.

I know the Kuje man. He can't possibly be campaigning in Bwari. I'm still trying to figure out how the Bwari Shekwolo has been the one campaigning and I'm seeing another man in the same party declared the winner. Maybe they have some sort of internal issues in the party, but damn, Haruna's face have been the one on the APC posters across the area cancel. I was held up in his campaign train just last weekend. This is confusing.

This was supposed to be a local election and as such it did not even attract the attention of APC chairman or top leaders yet they won. But one lamba king was doing all night campaign when ideally campaigns were supposed to have closed Yet his candidate lost.

The fastest way to lose an election in Nigeria right now is to have Obi raise your hand and say he endorses you.

Fake. Kuje area council has not been declared. 8 out of 10 wards have been collated so far, two more to go.

Court ruling and political manoeuvring.

Hon. Haruna Shekwolo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate displaced from the Bwari Area Council chairmanship race by a Supreme Court ruling, has explained why FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and former Senator Philip Aduda allegedly engineered his removal from the ticket and pressured the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate to step down in favour of the new APC candidate, Joshua Ishaku Musa.

In a 4–1 majority decision on Monday, a five-member Supreme Court panel set aside a Court of Appeal majority ruling and adopted the dissenting opinion of Justice Okon Abang that Ishaku was validly nominated by the APC.

According to Shekwolo, he was removed so that Aduda could install a loyalist chairman ahead of his planned Senate comeback.
