The Aminigboko community is an oil and gas-rich area in Abua, where SPDC has been exploring for oil and gas for some time. The community isae peaceful community in Abua and hosts the Oil Giant company SPDC.

Indications show that the community could host numerous oil wells and different Gases due to some research results.

Tragedy has struck the community today, 3 abled body men died mysteriously while trying to upgrade a well to get good water to drink. The well is drying out as the owner seeks the services of 2 men who reportedly dug the well. The first person reportedly went down the well through a locally made ladder and was never heard from again, the second person went down for rescue and the same thing happened. While the third person who was never engaged desperately sought to save the duo, unfortunately he lost his life even when the eyewitnesses wanted safety measures for him and he declined.

An eyewitness said that the well has an offensive odour which the owner feels could be a result of the depth, but with this tragedy, there is a suspicious gas that has killed these men instantly.

It is strongly believed that the community is hosting a lot of natural minerals and gases, some of which may be emitted from the said well, unknown to the residents.

It is important to employ experts in the oil sector to investigate the cause of this tragedy now, to save the community from a natural disaster.

Till date these local well diggers have not found a way to detect poison gasses in the wells and keep risking their lives

I think there is a gas leakage in there, experts should be called to investigate properly..

Most likely h2s poisoning or natural occuring radioactive materials (NORMs) from the oil and gas deposits beneath the subsurface. Very important to run a proper gas test for confirmation to prevent further fatalities around the area

Very sad news, any toxic smell should always be approached with cautions. Now 3 families are bereaved without their bread winners.

How were the bodies eventually removed?
Since all the rescuers died, how did the eventual rescuer do it or what means was deployed to get the dead bodies out?

The initial poster tried to tie this failure to SPDC or probably trying to point out that from all the oil exploration taking place in that community government should have provided portable water.

RIP to the dead ...but third guy shouldn't have risked his life ...Nigerians doesn't know how bas leadership have affected their lives especially the ones that support criminals in power...have u ever heard this kind news from other nations that have quality leadership....is the duty of government to provide basic facilities such as ,electricity, security, water,hospital even apartments etc for citizens but here we basically do it ourselves yet this Devils in power still tax us for providing nothing to citizens...nawaoh

Population explosion is one of the reasons the resources is not enough. Anybody wey die is a good thing after all the birth rate is still far more than the death rate.
