I might have had issues with the tonal discrepancies and the anticlimactic wave of the script, but my reputation as a cinephile should be called into question if I fail to praise the all-timer performance Timothée Chalamet pulled off as Marty Scouser, a.k.a. Marty Supreme.


There’s a quote I once read that has stuck with me, it goes “I came into this world alone, I will leave alone. If I don’t help myself, I will wither.” Marty Supreme typifies that quote to the max. His uncle offered him a cushy shoe manager’s job, but Marty knew his dream was bigger than the job, bigger than his uncle, his mom...even bigger than the entire town!.


It felt like he was in a race against time!. The palpable rush to make it was visible throughout. The beginning of each scene almost felt like it came too late... like Marty should already be in the next one, hustling, creating chaos. After all, as Petyr Baelish said in Game of Thrones, “Chaos is a ladder.” Marty Supreme was hoping enough chaos would carry him to his dream. Nothing ...not even a pregnancy scare or a damsel in distress...could deter him.

We are not all dealt the same cards in life. And if you’re dealt an unfavourable hand but still want to live a favourable life, then you’d understand Marty’s rush. "This town, these people have nothing for me. I have to get out". That was peak character writing.✨🎉


I’m yet to see “The Secret Agent” (2025), but Brother Wagner, I’m sorry 😩, I might have already seen the best male lead performance in a motion picture in the last year. I’m queuing my support right behind him. And should that moment ever come if they ask, is Timothée Chalamet truly “him”?he is Lisan al-Gaib!, he is Marty Supreme!, and without any iota of doubt… he is totally HIM.!
