Yes Celebrate the poor, appreciate them.

The spirit is life giving but the flesh is weak.

Let them come to the front sit. cool

Celebrate the Spirit of God living in the people in the church. First commandment love God first.

It is not poverty we are celebrating it is the presence of God and the purpose of God in people life.

Jesus said what you do to the least of my brothers or sisters you are doing that to me, you are doing that to God.

Therefore family, are we treating our brothers and sisters with disdain because they are poor.

I did not answer your question but my answer is that extreme poverty is not the main reason to associate with people. but we should care for them because they are in need. We should associate with people in great need but not entitled and dangerous people.
Ok

Because Satan also has his own "churches." The Churches founded by Christ have James chapter 2 in their Bible - no respect of persons commanded in God's churches.

[quote author=lordm post=138547302]You don't have to go church to be a good person.

[Jesus Christ said, "No one is good except God alone..." So, to be a good person in the eyes of God, you MUST go to church.]
Re: Why Do We Celebrate The Rich More Than The Poor In Some Churches? by Lovit(m): 11:03am On Feb 23
It is human nature; everyone prioritizes those who can get the work done

running a church is not easy, it needs funds

The holy brother who is struggling financially may have good intentions and prays fervently, but intentions and prayers alone don't make good services or fuel generators.

It only becomes a problem when the pastor recognizes the efforts of the financiers and neglect the spiritual and physical efforts of the average ones

but in all, it is better not to go to church than being there and you are not contributing spiritually, physically or financially; your pastor won't like you grin

You don't have to go to church before you can be a good person yes that is true but when you go to church it is a plus for you and it is a sign of you not neglecting the brotherhood

Because the church is suppose to be the best place. Since Jesus was the best person, or since God is the best person. if they know the best person they are suppose to be the best place.

Except the people in the church are limited by the flesh, the beast feeds on the flesh, they are from the dust, still biological, they are prone to fall and they are prone to entropy.

Jesus said my Kingdom is not of this world, his glorified Church is not subject to decay or entropy, which they have not yet received.

The Spirit is eternal and life giving but the flesh is weak. smiley
These are irrelevants that only the carnal minded seeks to explore the church and gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

We don't reason in this direction, whatsoever honour given to you by any man perish here on earth and of no significant. The main honor and celebration that every believer seeks after is that place of eternity where the King of kings reigns. This is where we are looking at and the ultimate goal of a true believer and church of God.

MaxInDHouse:
Because you people are not Christians Jesus commanded his REAL disciples:

“Stop storing up for yourselves treasures on the earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal. Rather, store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes, and where thieves do not break in and steal.  For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:19-21

“No one can slave for two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will stick to the one and despise the other. You cannot slave for God and for Riches." Matthew 6:24

So in a religious gathering where riches is celebrated do you think those involved are followers of the man whose words are quoted above?

Jesus said:

"You are my friends if you do what I am commanding you" John 15:14

Of course any religious gathering where people are doing otherwise should be called "ANTICHRIST"

Young children, it is the last hour, and just as you have heard that the ANTICHRIST is coming, even now many antichrists have appeared, from which fact we know that it is the last hour. 1John 2:18
Some of you will quote scriptures and with your zero understanding you will explain rubbish. What do you think you are explaining with the scriptures above. What does it mean to store up for yourself treasure in heaven. It's all about your investing or putting your money in the kingdom of God through activities that advanced the kingdom of God. During Jesus time they were people also that minister to Jesus their resources and it continued with the apostles that people sold land and properties for the kingdom sake. If I have a million dollars and I gave it for church projects that is what it means to store treasures in heaven.

And certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils, And Joanna the wife of Chuza Herod’s steward, and Susanna, and many others, which ministered unto him of their substance.
— Luke 8:2,3

Acts 4:34-37 (KJV) Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold,
And laid them down at the apostles' feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need.
And Joses, who by the apostles was surnamed Barnabas, (which is, being interpreted, The son of consolation,) a Levite, and of the country of Cyprus,
Having land, sold it, and brought the money, and laid it at the apostles' feet.

That is what it means to store up in heaven. When your resources enter the kingdom of God.

This is not even a question self because God himself will recognise those who are making impact more than those who are not. He said He will reward everyone according to their work. Look the story of the talents, the rewards Jesus Christ gave was different.
And Jesus concluded that story with some power statement that people today fail to talk about.
Matthew 13:12 (KJV) For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.

MAYOWAAK:
In James 2:1-9, the Bible condemns showing favoritism based on wealth, describing a scenario where a rich person in fine clothing and gold rings is given a seat of honor, while a poor person in shabby clothes is told to stand or sit on the floor. James calls this partiality, or discrimination, a sin.
First that scripture is different from what this question is for. Nobody is telling you to treat the poor with disdain because that is what James is addressing. Everybody most be treated with love in the house of God. But it's now different when they want to recognise people's effort to see that church services and activities are going on smoothly and some other persons are making that happen. Yes you most recognise them because they are people that have money in that same church and will not support the work of God there.

Ecclesiastes 9:15-16 (KJV) Now there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city; yet no man remembered that same poor man.
Then said I, Wisdom is better than strength: nevertheless the poor man's wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard.

It simply means giving up worldly riches to make friend with God so choosing a career of Christian ministry instead of pursuing material riches is the same as storing your riches in heaven where no thief can see what you have with God!🙂

True in many cases but I think the word is recognition not celebration which I think pastors should handle with more wisdom.

However, givers are said to "never lack" and words are prayers. Givers never lack and that includes recognition and celebration. Those who give their time and energy, even without big money, should also get good measure of joyful recognition.

There's no were poverty is celebrated. It takes grace to even like yourself if you are poor not to think of others. Bible says a poor man rescued a city from destruction but he was not remembered because he was poor. Ecclesiastes 9:15

@OP it's is not a church things. Please don't drag the church. God go help us make this money. Money no go shame us

Rich, success is relative to each individual.

In terms Money richest, I know Jehovah witness try as much not to make others uncomfortable. But you can't deny the difference amongst them. The grade system. I tell you... I know some people in the follow ship that haven't relate or don't talk with each other. Fake smiles and handshake during closing .

I know a lady that I was the only one that could relate with her, we talk....but each one of them, as class, and group that they each gather different from another.

An elder told me something, very unfortunate. You guys lack real and truth friends and association. All fake for the kingdom of God on earth

You misplaced human traits to what God arranged by Himself.

So the question again:

Do Jehovah's Witnesses celebrate the rich among them?

I'm not talking about how individuals look at friendships but the organization is the focus now.

When i first attended the assembly of Jehovah's Witnesses i expected them to hail rich, famous or influential members but no instead the celebrated ones are those who are doing great in the ministry so if you are doing well in the ministry your photograph or video will be posted globally among Jehovah's Witnesses as an exemplary member.

YES or NO?🙂

So they don't belong to Jesus because the man called Jesus in the Bible was not rich neither his Apostles.

Re: Why Do We Celebrate The Rich More Than The Poor In Some Churches? by NomorePMO: 4:06pm On Feb 23
You are not even a full Jehovah witness. The bolded is not allowed. It was announced last year. The government body warn about show of recognition in public.

About celebrating riches.....it is relative. Trust me, they have their class, and grade...and they celebrate it. Like for example, if you are a son of an elder, your speech last Sunday was "wow", trust me, you may get more opportunities...and they may try to involved you more in most of their activities....than a stammer.

They celebrate themselves, in terms of class...in a way that is like stigmatization. Note, an elder shared this with me. We were close up to now..... forget all this smiles, just pray you not face with any challenges in life.

To even approach your sisters and brothers self, you go dey doubt yourself

Maxin, I want you to know something. It is your choice. Your life and decisions. No one have the right to choose otherwise.

But hear this, as far as you are a Jehovah witness, you can not be truly accepted. Never. Trust me.

They know that themselves, that is why they don't love too much in case that happens, they can easily dish you.

Unless you get baptized, and you then become a product. You move, you exchange between - you are never yourself.

In fact, some congregation are trying new ways of followshhip that is kept among themselves. Not publicly

I never expected them to accept me as one of them until i got baptized nah.

I was born a Muslim so when i met them i never trusted them until i discovered that it's only when you are dedicated to their God and symbolize it by water immersion that one becomes a bonafide member so i chose to be a complete member and ever since then everywhere i go there is a home awaiting me once i identify myself as one of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Please you can't expect them to recognize you as a member when you are not baptized in their global record of membership it's only baptized ones they count as Jehovah's Witnesses if you are attending their meetings for more than five decades but never got baptized you remain an interested person not one of Jehovah's Witnesses!
