If indeed snakes are an issue in Nigeria, your political leaders should make it a priority to ensure the availability of anti venom in local hospitals around the area of infestation . That would save lives. It’s sad for people to be dying due to lack of medication.

That means when I see a snake I’ll first ask the snake if it is poisonous or not before killing it .

Exactly. My elder brother had a snake bite in 1994. He was treated traditionally. As long as it's not somewhere very far from home, chances of survival is very high.

Actually incorrect,speaking as someone who.has.actually treated snake bite

A simple test to find out if.venom.has entered the blood.stream..

1. Take a sample of blood
2. Put it in a vial.of glass that doesn't contain anticoagulants and seal it
3. Let it stand for 20.minutes, turn it over from time to time

If after 20 minutes the blood is still loose and hasn't coagulated...danger. give antivenom

If the blood is coagulating by 5 minutes,.most likely no venom in the body. Still monitor though

1. I.happen to work in medicine,.so this is kind of my interest

2..When I started work, the big pharma companies had pulled out. All we had then was indian antivenom which didn't work

3. Eventually we got the echitab antivenom. As I.said the problem is for now.no.major pharma company would invest in making it in large enough amounts for Africa as a whole..

5. At least we are fortunate. Apart from south Africa , all.african countries don't have antivenom native to their country nor do they have anyone making antivenom for them. Ghana and Eswathini have started preliminary groundwork for their own native antivenom

At least in Nigeria we are lucky

7. We don't have good response to medical emergencies in this country. That's where the government is messed up. In an ideal situation someone bitten in a remote village should be transported by air or ambulance to a secondary hospital with antivenom. That is where your government fails.

While I’m the village this January,I decided to make use of the bush,while I was pooing,this beautiful and deadly creature just surfaced in my front from the surrounding grasses,the snake was looking at me,I squat in my position,but frozen,until I made I slight movement,the snake now reveals his full length,u needed to see how I ran with the shit in my yash. Hahahahahaha!
