No wonder there are no beggars in Dubai.
Nigeria should adopt this law and even go a step further to incorporate it into our social media spaces- anyone who asks for urgent whatever K should be flagged and arrested by the EFCC grin

But in Nigeria begging is a culture to some people
Re: Begging Is A Crime Punishable By Law - Dubai Police by SaintLucia: 10:56am On Feb 24
The evidence for this is the Hadith reported by Muslim: "O! Qabisa, begging is not permissible but for one of the three (classes) of persons: one who gives a guarantee to a large amount to settle the dispute of people, for him begging is permissible till he pays that off, after which he must stop it; a man whose property has been destroyed by a calamity which has smitten him, for him begging is permissible till he gets what will support life, or will provide him reasonable subsistence; and a person who has been smitten by poverty, the genuineness of which is confirmed by three members of his peoples, for him begging is permissible till he gets what will support him, or will provide him subsistence. O! Qabisa, besides these three (every other reason) for begging is forbidden, and one who engages in such consumes what is forbidden."

Allah knows best.

Nigerian correctional service don't have the capacity to accommodate more than half the population of ronus.

That's what some people do for a living here. Awon professional beggars (both offline and online). grin grin
Re: Begging Is A Crime Punishable By Law - Dubai Police by erad(m): 10:58am On Feb 24
Nigeria needs to adopt this.

People don't even beg because they don't have anymore, they beg because they think they are smarter than others. It's a hustle.

Hausa begging is cultural, not religious
Re: Begging Is A Crime Punishable By Law - Dubai Police by McLizbae: 11:01am On Feb 24
This is interesting. Before a nation can criminalize begging, that nation must be certain that she has a stable policy that sufficiently provide for all.

This is another dimension to a nation's property.

Reverse is the case in Nigeria, most especially from the north where we have Islam as majority religion. Begging is now a culture in that part of the country.

What an irony, meanwhile most northern states with high proportion of Muslims are beggerw and have exported the craft all over Nigeria.

And Sharia police doesn't see them as going against Islam. Hypocrisy is the hallmark of that religion.
Re: Begging Is A Crime Punishable By Law - Dubai Police by friday2011(m): 11:02am On Feb 24
Sometimes, I just wonder if this people practice the same Islam our brothers practice in northern nigeria? The north should wake up, the negativity they give Islam is becoming worrisome.

In Nigeria, some beggars are richer than graduates...

You wan spoil their business? grin

But seriously, begging isn't honourable.

If this policy is passed here, it will be a big opportunity for the opposition, because the mass wont be in support of this..

Protests will start with “there’s no job in the country” or “before you get them off the streets, you should provide shelter for them”. A nation that always find so many reasons to justify rubbish will find it hard to grow..

Yahoo has turned great minds into limited folks, yet people will justify it.
