AMAC: ADC candidate rejects election results, alleges irregularities

The African Democratic Congress candidate in the Abuja Municipal Area Council chairmanship election, Mr Moses Paul, has rejected the outcome of the February 21 poll, alleging widespread irregularities and insisting that the declared results did not reflect the true will of the people.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Monday, Paul accused the Independent National Electoral Commission of mishandling the election, citing alleged voter suppression, result manipulation, intimidation of party supporters and vote-buying across several wards.

On Sunday, the Independent National Electoral Commission declared Christopher Maikalangu of the All Progressives Congress as the duly elected chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council.

The AMAC Collation Officer, Andrew Abue, announced that Maikalangu, the incumbent chairman, secured victory after polling 40,295 votes out of the 62,861 valid votes recorded in the election.

He added that the ADC candidate finished second with 12,109 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party garnered 3,398 votes.

Reacting, the ADC candidate said he had reviewed the election outcome and insisted he won the people’s mandate, rejecting the results announced by INEC as not reflecting the true will of Abuja residents.

He stated, “I stand before you today not as a man diminished by the outcome of Saturday’s event, but as a man empowered by a political movement. This movement is not born of convenience but of conviction; it is carried not by power, but by people. It is written not in ink, but in sacrifice.

"Over the past few months, from the streets of Karshi to the bustling markets of Wuse, from the crowded paths of Nyanya to the quiet resilience of Gwi, Abuja residents have risen, standing up and expressing their beliefs. For this, I bow my head in gratitude.

"Let it be known and recorded in history that what we witnessed in this election was not merely a contest for office; it was a declaration of dignity by a people who refuse to surrender their future.

“I have reviewed the outcome as announced. While I firmly believe, based on our extensive engagement and the overwhelming spirit of our movement, that we earned the sacred mandate of the people, I strongly condemn the declared results, as they do not reflect the true will of the residents of Abuja.”

Paul maintained that the actions of certain key players during the election undermined the integrity of the process and weakened public confidence in democracy.

He continued, “Even among those who voted, many have expressed deep disagreement with the announced outcome due to widespread irregularities. These include restriction of movement through the imposition of a curfew; alteration and mutilation of polling unit results, which tragically contributed to the death of Musa Abubakar at the Gwagwa polling unit while he tried to resist; intimidation and attacks on ADC party members by security agencies; massive vote-buying across several wards; and voter suppression caused by the late arrival of election materials in key polling units, including Kabusa, among others.

“These actions undermine the integrity of the electoral process and the confidence of the people in our democracy. Our movement was never built on the fragile foundation of titles; it was built on the enduring foundation of truth. And truth does not expire with an election.

“To the young men and women who stood in the sun for hours, who walked distances they had never known, and who gave their time, strength and voices: you are the authors of a new chapter.”

“I Will Not Surrender!” Dr. Mo Rejects AMAC Results, Confronts Wike and INEC Head-On

Tension is rising in Abuja as Dr. Moses Paul breaks his silence and flatly rejects the declared AMAC election results, sending a strong and emotional message to Nyesom Wike and Independent National Electoral Commission.

In this explosive reaction and analysis, we examine why Dr. Mo says he will not surrender, what he claims went wrong during the Abuja council polls, and why many Nigerians are now questioning the credibility of the AMAC election. Allegations of voter suppression, intimidation, late materials, and result manipulation have once again put INEC and the political establishment under intense scrutiny.

Is this the birth of a stronger opposition movement in the FCT?
Was the people’s mandate truly ignored?
And what does this confrontation mean for democracy in Nigeria’s capital?

This video breaks down the message, the politics, and the power struggle behind the headlines — with context you won’t get elsewhere.

He should go and prepare for another election.

Even if the election was rigged, the low turnout means a lot of things

These are the last kicks of a dying horse...

Way to go, if he has incontrovertible evidence.

Let's start from his polling unit. Was the declared result a true reflection of what transpired there?

LMAO 🤣🤣

You will not surrender with 7 vote or what?

In my Estate alone no by mouth 100 people will come out for me I go to Estate meeting steadily I engage in our monthly community service and even our WhatsApp group I'm active...

So it will be a thing of pride someone is coming from the estate to represent...

It's shown the type of character that you're in your neighborhood...

This one no be noise work on your attitude it just reflected on your polling unit results....

That Senator too that always go online or TV station to make Noise only 5 people voted in her polling unit and she still lose got only 2 vote this people doesn't look like people who have any good character in there neighborhood people in there neighborhood don't even trust them enough....

The question still remain the same where's the result from your polling agent to counter the said rigged and tipexed results?

No one is asking you to surrender, it is your right to contest it in court if you feel cheated.

Re: “I Will Not Surrender!” Dr. Mo Rejects AMAC Results by PigTormentor: 2:14pm On Feb 24
He wants to reject election results with his 7 votes in his own polling unit. grin
Nigerians are just terrible at accepting defeat, they will always look for one excuse or the other.
You cannot call yourself a Democrat if you cannot accept when you lose.
There will always be winners and losers in any election.

In every chain of reasoning, the evidence of the last conclusion can be no greater than that of the weakest link of the chain, whatever may be the strength of the rest.

Oga. Turnout was abysmal. An election where less than 52,000 voters turned up in the federal capital city is a huge disgrace to all concerned.
Re: “I Will Not Surrender!” Dr. Mo Rejects AMAC Results by simplyOJ(m): 2:15pm On Feb 24
I would advise this man to just save his money for other things rather than going to court. By the time lawyers are done with his pocket, he will know how far..
