Watch them sing hymns of admiration for every other country that relocated its capital city, calling it vision, strategy, and forward thinking, yet unleash thunder and brimstone on Nigeria for doing exactly the same thing for glaringly practical reasons.

I have rarely encountered a display of inferiority complex so energetic it deserves its own national grid.

If Nigeria truly want nationwide development and unity, the capital of Nigeria should be rotated among the six geopolitical zones once every 50yrs.

Another option is to operate 6 capital cities, namely:

Abuja - Executive capital - President & Vice

Oyo/Ibadan - Financial Capital - CBN headquarters (CBN Governors, etc)

Enugu or Imo/Owerri - Judicial capital - Chief Justice of Nigeria office, Attorney General Office & Supreme Court HQ

Kano - Defence Capital - All Service Chiefs HQ

Akwa Ibom or Cross River - Parliamentary Capital - Senate President/Deputy Senate/Senators

Bauchi or Yobe - Second Judicial capital - House of Reps Speaker/Deputy Speaker of House of Reps/All House of Reps

Ivory Cost changed her capital to Yamoussoukro since 1983. However, most of the agencies are still in Abidjan.

Sri Lanka also changed her capital from Colombo to Sri Jayawardenepura Kotte

To be candid, Abuja is the most suitable place to be the capital of Nigeria.

The main reason is its central location, which makes it easily accessible from all parts of the country. Abuja is geographically positioned at the heart of the nation, promoting a sense of neutrality and national unity among Nigeria’s diverse ethnic and regional groups.
