I have even heard a call to prayer loud in a city centre

The man is a misinformed churchgoer not one of Christ's disciples.

Jesus taught us to preach not by making noise in the streets {Matthew 12:19} but knocking on people's doors {Matthew 10:11-13} so we can properly introduce ourselves to householders and if anyone finds our presentation interesting he or she may ask questions which we will answer using God's word {Matthew 7:7-8} but if the householder shows no interest we are to leave peacefully without hurting his or her feelings! Luke 9:53-56

In this manner we will not hurt people who are of other faith by shouting and cursing them that they will burn in fire for having different religious beliefs!😟

Another point is we must go to a new location as a group and preach in pairs {Luke 10:1} this will help onlookers to see that we are organized not one man or woman shouting indiscriminately in the streets!
