I once visited a friend whose 2.5 year old son would not walk. I reached my finger out for him to grab and we walked up and down the yard for about half an hour. He began crying half way through but wouldn't let go of my finger. Next day I turned up and the he was hiding, and as soon as I found him began crying. I stuck my finger out and he grabbed it and we walked up and down the yard, but at some point he dropped my finger and just walked up and down the yard beside me. His parents said it was a miracle, but it really was just patience and allowing the child to practise. Think of it like teaching to drive a car and they might learn quicker from you. |

Una too dey rush for most things. Different kids have different timing their brain and body activates to certain milestones. A child's body is not airport schedule. Place things around the play space for the child to move around. Make una no dey carry am upandan. Ocassionally try the thing Budatuun said up there (but no carry pikin waka for 30mins o - you wan hinjur am? - short bursts of 3mins). If he can stand while holding things, he'll walk - the child still dey gym. |

It's more common with children that are always carried... And so don't practice themselves to walk. I had a neighbor too one time in kaduna her child was around 1 year and 8 months. She was always on her mother's back. She couldn't walk. Na so she small like potato. ( I suspect malnutrition too in her case) In some children though it's a result of sickness and yet in others late blooming or development. A handful of reasons can be the cause. It's also a good idea to take them to hospital for early detection of anything more complex or abnormal in their growth and development so as to be treated early. But if it's determined nothing abnormal in their growth then pressure on the child shouldn't be intense to walk. Everyone eventually comes around at their own time- normally! |

A baby not walking at 18 months is a nightmare for every parent. Apart from seeing a peadetrician, here are a few suggestions I have: 1. Quit carrying the child. Encourage floor time 2. Avoid putting your baby in a rocker. Here's a link to the type of rocker I mean at this age (https://monmartt.com/product/7155/infant-to-toddler-ro) . This will make the child's muscles develop strength. 3. Construct a local walker if u can ( https://reviews.momjunction.com/smile-pick-wooden-baby-walker/). A local carpenter can help with that and make sure the child exercises 3ce daily for about 15 mins. 4. If all else fails, ask to be referred to a physiotherapist that has experience working with children. 5. Above all, pray like mad. |

He will walk. Not every child starts basic stuffs like walking, talking and potty training at the same age. Different strokes. Usually, female toddlers are faster than their Male counterpart in development |

I started walking when I was just 2 months old. Because of the kind of fire that I carried from birth. Anyways I see the child walking like every other child. This I have seen. |
