Zee454:Regional or State Policing could have solved this crisis in Nigeria. But one Region of Nigeria hold others to ransom because its people believe some southern regions of Nigeria could use regional or State Police to secede from Nigeria. Even Bola Tinubu who campaigned for years for political restructuring of Nigeria is now president but has no powers to call for a national conference for political restructuring of Nigeria. |

As usual, the government of the day should hurriedly move “as a matter of urgency” to meet whatever demands are placed on the table. Then later, we will be told a polished story, that the kidnapped victims were released because of some masterstroke strategy, because of the brilliance of a so-called tactician, or because of their handsome faces. We are expected to believe that terrorists suddenly grow a conscience. That captives regain freedom out of goodwill. That everything was part of some grand plan. Meanwhile, the pattern continues. At this point, perhaps the terrorists should do us a favour by simply demanding Nigeria itself. If there were a certificate of ownership for a country, maybe that would be the next logical and best request. Because what else is left? If criminals can dictate terms repeatedly and the state responds in whispers and press statements, then what exactly remains of sovereignty? This is no longer about optics. It is about dignity. It is about whether a nation governs itself, or negotiates its survival in instalments. |

This is appalling and uncomfortable to read if true. Government need to do something about it urgently. And for those tribalising and politicising this, happy that this is happening and even using it to advocate for their candidate, I sincerely have nothing to say to you lots other than it's no wonder we are where we are as a country. This should be totally condemned by any sane person and not to be used as a tool for division. Don't you guys get it ![]() |

calaway:Na lie! Peter Obi cannot stop fulani terrorists in their agenda. I knew Tinubu can't do it hence why i refused to vote for him in the last election. Even Obj, a former military dictator couldn't do it so it's prepostrous to sell us that narrative that Obi is the answer. |

JuanDeDios:Your argument is flawed. There are consequences for electing useless leaders into office. Yes, those who voted for candidate A knew and still voted for A, otherwise, no one would vote for APC as a party after the abysmal performance of Buhari, and his successor openly saying he would continue from where buhari stopped. What were they expecting? How will you know candidate B and C wouldn’t have performed better if they are not in office ? |

We are not ready in this country. The truth is our security architecture is extremely weak. Right now Nigeria is at the mercy of these monsters.. the Nigerian government has enabled them by pampering and making $tupeed peace negotiations with them instead of hitting them hard consecutively with heavy gun power. |
| Re: Did Kidnappers Demand For Female Virgins As Ransome In Ekiti? by JuanDeDios: 6:15pm On Feb 26 |
tpain121:Bolded is correct. But do you have an objective measure for what makes a useful or useless candidate in the context of a Nigerian election? We know that manifestoes and words said during a campaigns aren't objective enough - because politicians say nice things and fail all the time. "I will continue where Buhari stopped" was just campaign talk. Tinubu hasn't even continued in Buhari's trajectory - has has his own path so far. Even his style is different. @red. You don't. At best, you go by their history –after all, apart from Atiku, the others had records of executive position for us to look at. Even Atiku had a civil service and VP record. People (those smart enough to do so) looked at these and came up with different interpretations. Since we're talking about security, what was Tinubu's record on security as governor? What was Obi record? Candidate A-C's campaigns thus resonated differently with different citizens. The suggestion that Candidate A was manifestly bad, yet some voted him and Candidate C was clearly good yet they rejected him remains a nonstarter. No, we don't know that the other candidates would have performed any better on security. |
