Haha, fair point 😅. You are probably right — for Graduate Trainee recruitment, NLNG usually does the entire assessment centre in one day. My earlier comment was more of a general note for other types of assessment centres where some companies split stages.
You are right though, spreading it over multiple days for 50 to 100 candidates would be logistically expensive and unnecessary. Thanks for clarifying! 👍

I'm even more furious at myself for engaging. How did I not see AI in their posts all this while?!

Instead of agreeing to the errors in your ways, you decide to have Chatgpt write responses for you

Someone that is looking for attention. Better not to engage than lose brain cells.

I can see that there are quite a number of guests (people who don't have a nairaland account) on this thread. I know it can be really comfortable reading posts and smiling, but then, there might be a time you actually want to ask a question or interact with the thread.

Even if you create an account then, you'd have to wait for an entire week to be able to contribute. My simple advice is to create the account now. That way, you'll be able to comment when it's time for Assessment Centre. It's quite frustrating when you want to type and nairaland keeps hitting you with that message.

TL;DR - Create a nairaland account now. Shalom!
Re: NLNG Recruitment 2025/2026 by airsaylongcome: 1:43pm On Feb 27
Adding to Artsy's comment above, I think it's always a good thing to contribute. Even if it's "once once". I typically get a few monikers try to email me. I look at post history and if I don't see anything to hook to, I don't engage. So yeah it's sweet to be taking all the time, but the "joy" in all of this is you take small you give small

When possibly will this waiting period end? Like when should we expect invitation
to AC?

From past NLNG GT recruitments, once the shortlisting is approved, invitations usually go out within two to four weeks.

No exact dates are published, so the best thing is to keep checking the NLNG portal and your email. Just be patient, processing hundreds of candidates takes time.

And remember, ignore “leaked” lists or WhatsApp messages, only the official portal is reliable.

Probably March ending or first week of April. The countdown is so frustrating 😂

If they reached out to you after two weeks, then it’s likely we’ll start seeing invites next week.
Just keep an eye on your email and the official NLNG portal and ignore any WhatsApp leaks or unofficial lists.

They eventually sent invites to some applicants who were originally sent regret mail, and I think they were given until 17th of January or so to take their test. So, I guess she started counting from that day. They sent the second level assessment on the 30th of January.

What I observed from the personality test, which should also be transferable to the AC, is that it was definitely prepared by occupational psychologists. The whole process is tailored towards helping you expose yourself or your "true color" to them lol.

For the AC, I feel like we shouldn't get ahead of ourselves. Two weeks is a long shot. I've zeroed my mind to two months, give or take a few days.

How nice it would be if they sent it next week, though. Can you imagine our excitement when we get a positive email? Oh, I wish!

I agree with this. Seeing as the waiting period was 2 months for the last recruitment, I'm guessing 6 - 8 weeks this time too.

Criteria used to Shortlist NLNG candidates for NLNG assessment center

The shortlisting criteria for the NLNG Assessment Centre (Nigeria LNG Limited) are not publicly released in full detail, but based on industry standards and past recruitment patterns, applicants are usually shortlisted using a combination of the following:

A. Performance in the Online/Aptitude Test

1. Numerical reasoning

2. Verbal reasoning

3. Logical/abstract reasoning

4. Technical questions (for engineering/science roles)

👉 Candidates who meet or exceed the cut-off score progress to the NLNG Assessment Center.

B. Academic/Educational Qualification

1. Minimum required degree (usually Second Class Upper for graduate positions, though not always strictly stated).

2. Relevant field of study (Engineering, Sciences, Finance, etc.).

3. Strong academic consistency (O’Level and degree results).

C. Relevance of Experience (for Experienced Hire Positions)

1. Years of relevant industry experience.

2. Experience in oil and gas, LNG, utilities, or related sectors.

3. Demonstrated achievements in similar job functions.

D. Competency Match

NLNG looks for:

1. Analytical ability

2. Problem-solving skills

3. Communication skills

4. Leadership potential

5. Teamwork capability

6. Safety consciousness

Assessment centre exercises are designed to evaluate these.

E. Application Quality

1. Properly completed application form.

2. No inconsistencies in dates or qualifications.

3. Clear demonstration of required competencies.

F. Compliance Requirements

1. Nigerian citizenship (for most positions).

2. Age requirements (especially for Graduate Trainee positions).

3. NYSC completion certificate (for graduates).

G. Ranking System

Shortlisting is often merit-based and competitive:

1. Applicants are ranked based on Aptitude test scores.

2. Top percentile is invited to Assessment Centre.

Cut-off varies depending on:

1. Number of candidates

2. Number of vacancies

3. Role competitiveness

What the Assessment Centre Itself Usually Evaluates

1. Group Discussion

2. Case Study Analysis

3. Presentation

4. Competency-Based Interview

5. Technical Interview (for technical positions)

Ranking And Vacancy Ratio

Example scenario:

10,000 applicants

1,500 pass aptitude test

200 to 300 invited to Assessment Centre

Final selection may be 30 to 60 trainees.
So shortlisting is heavily percentile-based.

What Really Determines If You Will Be Invited for NLNG Assessment Center

For Graduate Trainees, realistically:

1. High aptitude score (very important)

2. Strong academic background

3. Clean, consistent application

4. Meeting eligibility criteria

Exactly!! A huge chunk of what I'm focused on is work for now. I'm at least gaining some form of experience while preparing for whatever comes as a result of this assessment.

If you've noticed, I haven't been all that active. I occasionally view once and get going. It's early and it's the weekend, so I decided to "put pen to paper".

airsaylongcome made mention of the SHL MAP and it just felt like it went under the radar. That material is 💯 % useful.

Nimora, I know you do come here almost every night like a peeping Tom to see what you could come pick up (something of importance).

NLNGOFFERLETTER, please and please, be with us every step of the way. You and @Airsay are doing a whole lot on this thread - the equivalent of changing lives.
