Let it be understood that being born in a Christian community or even inside the church or being given a Christian name does not make you a Christian. You may only claim to be a Christian if your only proof is on the afore mentioned parameters.

Christian practice and the practise of magical powers or charms are not, and cannot be the same. It will be a misnomer for someone to say he is a Christian who uses charms, because biblically, this is called syncretism.

Jesus said in Matthew 6:24, "No man can serve two masters.”

The Holy Spirit and talismans

The Cross and occult rituals

The final truth is that a Christian does not need charms. As a Christian, you have the Name of Jesus, the Blood of Jesus, the Holy Spirit. and the Word of God. These are more powerful than any charm ever created.

So brother, if you want to be a Christian, you need to repent and forsake those charms.

I am a yoruba born again Christian, most yorubas use charms, whether christian or muslims. i dont use it, but my extended family uses it, either to get favour, good luck. protection, love, evil and so on and it is potent. i dont believe in it but i have seen it works.

These don't look bad. If I'd read this when I was still "searching", I'm sure I'd've found them very interesting, at least, and given Ifa a second glance.

On the circled, I've noticed that all religions emphasis sacrifice. Blood sacrifice, in particular, is a huge feature of pagan religions. I guess that's why blood sacrifice also features heavily in Christianity and Islam, as it does in their forebear Judaism, which had its roots in ancient Canaan pagan religions.

Yeah, Ifa makes sense until it starts talking about ancestors and sacrifices. Most successful societies don't worship ancestors and don't sacrifice animals! Same way societies with lowest infant mortality don't cut baby faces

Fair point. Animal sacrifices don't belong in the modern world. I guess that's why they don't practice it in Rabbinical Judaism. I'm sure Ifa people will get there too, with time. Face marking has reduced - it'll go with time too.

Nothing wrong with ancestor worship though. What you worship is just a function of your belief, nothing more. It will never make sense to anybody, except those who share the belief with you.
