A female officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has died after being knocked down and run over by an operational patrol vehicle during a simulation exercise in Abuja.

NSCDC spokesperson Afolabi Babawale confirmed the incident to on Saturday, describing it as a tragic accident that occurred during a coordinated show-of-force drill.

Footage circulating on social media captured the moment the officer was struck by the vehicle as it made a turn. The vehicle came to a halt after the impact, and colleagues and onlookers immediately rushed to lift it and pull her from underneath. Emergency responders arrived shortly afterward and evacuated the officer, but she was pronounced dead despite efforts to save her life.

Babawale said the NSCDC had immediately activated internal processes following the tragedy.

“It is true we lost a personnel during the simulation exercise. Our senior officers are on their way to the residence of the deceased to pay our condolences,” he stated.

He added that a detailed official statement would be released soon to clarify the circumstances and outline the measures being taken by the agency.

As of Saturday, the identity of the deceased officer had not been publicly released by the NSCDC.

Show of force to who? By NSCDC! (unless show oc force means something else)

The only place and military or paramilitary in this country can "Show of force" is when they display the BH or Bandit they kill.

She was acting as a bandit. They were already done with the act as she was still lying on the ground when the vehicle did her bad, look at the video clip well, a lady was wearing a white cloth lying on the floor.

The door to that hilux was not closed, immediately the personnel at the back hit the vehicle and prompting the driver with shouts of 'Lets go' he the driver just moved the vehicle without considering the other passengers in the vehicle.

I think the lady fell out from the passenger seat at the back.
