Stop misleading the public with your false narrative. Closure of the strait of hormuz only affects 20% of global oil supply which significantly only affects the gulf nations within. In contrast, this will only cause hike in global oil prices....thereby making Nigeria gain more in global oil sales. The closure of the strait of hormuz may only affect Nations that import oil from the gulf Countries. It won't affect country that import oil from South America, Africa and South Asian countries. Nigeria doesn't import oil from the gulf countries. Hence, this will not affect pump price in Nigeria.

Nigerian oil doesn't pass through the strait of homuz but we import either crude for refining or refined crude, all influenced by what happens in the strait.

I may not be an expert in economics matters, but I have been wondering if there is a way Nigeria can take advantage of this new war in the Middle East to boost our income/economy.

I doubt the war will be of any serious benefit to Nigeria. A good percentage of the crude lifted has been mortgaged for Loan, and infrastructure by Buhari's government for almost a decade.

Also, during the gulf war, Nigeria was energy sufficient importing little of her energy needs which was not much then. Since then, population has Atleast quadruple with alot more energy needs and alot more political class to service n payoff. The impact of this will be higher fuel cost on a country already grappling with runaway inflation.
Nigeria cannot benefit much from any global crisis at the moment. We didn't prepare of have the infrastructure.

If things get escalated for too long and oil prices goes crazy, Chin, Indian and other big oil buyers will start slowing down. We may return to the Covid era kind of global economic recession.

Again, crude oil prices going up simply means PMS prices will go up. We should even start preparing for N1k by next week.

Malacca Strait - Between Malaysia and Indonesia, connecting the Indian Ocean to the South China Sea.

Bab-el-Mandeb Strait - Between Yemen and Djibouti, linking the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden. Except the Houthis block it in solidarity when Iran, vessels can ply the route.

Panama Canal - Connecting the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean, allowing ships to bypass South America.

Northern Sea Route - This is a shipping route along Russia's Arctic coast, offering a shorter alternative to the Suez Canal for some routes.

Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor) - A multimodal transport system connecting China to Europe via Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkey.

Cape Route (Around Africa) - User when the Houthis disturbed last year. It is a longer route around South Africa, often used when other routes are inaccessible.

In all, Iran will suffer much more economically.
