Very Weak stories and Poor writing style from the authors. sad
I will advice you don't try that sh!t, You may end up questioning your own intelligence like "what the ... did I just read?"

Better for you to go look for any you might have missed or didn't grasp very well then from our classic African writers like Ekwensi, Achebe,

Even the "Pacesetters" we used to look down on those days will be a classic in this generation.

Bro or lady. If you scroll up you will see where I and some commenters talking about those days we too wear patch patch knickers and all. So we or should I say agree to that. But trying to claim you're too special and all that brought all that to her.
And some commenters are saying all the class must have been envy of her, no it's not.
I don't think up to 10 or 15 people went begging her for friendship, I myself didn't even time for that. But it was the people that went to her that she snubs was the one relating to other how snubbish she's.
And to crown it all which I witness, she will go call senior students to come punish her own classmates, for what now. Unto who she be. You sef reason am

Ojo high was trenches AF in the 90's damn!, not a single rich man who resided in that area sent their children there. Most big men & middle-class families living around there sent their children to Ijanikin, Kankor, Command day ojo/ipaja, NNS Ojo & Navy town. BTW why did you mention her real name? And at your age you are still thinking about her pant? Cordelia and her crew in my hood/church did well for themselves in life. I think she married an airforce-pilot, while her crew all married current executives in banking. Hope you are doing well in life OP
Honestly eh! I feel like slapping you from my phone for this your ignorant statement.
Ojo High that has 4 Army Captain children attending our school, I have one of his son in my set. The eldest was in s.s3, another one in ss1 and their last born in jss1.
We also have many Alaba big men children in our school.
One of my best friend then "Adolphus" his father was in Europe, and his father own that white mansion that is in Agric bus stop facing Volkswagen football field that has since been demolished bcus of the road.
The boy was in my class, he became my best friend bcus I was teaching him as much as I can and I visited that their mansion very well.
Apart from Ojo High, Govt College beside it also have wealthy people children, that's the school my immediate younger brother attended. So stop this your ignorant talk of Ojo High was a trenches school. Do you even know most of those Agric estate and Otubu estate big men children attended one of the 3 schools of Ojo High, Community secondary School and Govt College.

As for what I have become now, I am doing well with 3 grown up kids I am sponsoring in school. I'm not begging, and who knows if Cordelia's boastfulness later ended in her marrying one Alaba "nwaboi"

It was from there they relocated to Afromedia and then add a secondary school to it. But I didn't attended their school. I was already in F.O.A primary school before Ideal was established

My guy, I finished from Ojo High in 1999.
If all these things you're saying about Ojo High started from 2000s upwards, I won't doubt you, like the cult and all which is now almost everywhere in Nigeria secondary school.
And again, yes Ojo High was a trenches school that's why it's a public government school. But denying no rich or average to do parents brought their children is a big lie.
Like the examples I gave you above, you want to tell me that Army Captain was an ignorant man for registering his kids in Ojo High even while Boys school and Command Day where inside the barracks he is.
I gave you an example of rich men residing in Agric estates and Otubu estates which are high class estates then whose children are in our school.
I even gave you example of my rich best friend who I frequent their mansion like kilode.
Another example, the school just next to Ojo High, is Govt College. My younger brother was attending it while I was in Ojo High.
Govt College was nickname "Ajebo" school bcus of the amount of rich kids in it. My brother always tells me and I do see them on the way. And Govt College was also in trenches. So bro, kill that your mindset saying no rich kid attended Ojo High. Dem plenty, even though we know we Ajepakos are more than them

But you find it sweet her using senior students to come and intimidate and punish her own classmates just bcus she thinks they're not in her level.
Yes Shekinat part was unintentional. It was two fighting and she pushed her with her might and the other fell down and got herself exposed.
Was it Shekinat or the envying class according to you people that told her to wear what she wore so they can laugh at her.
Bro, it's not funny to you no problem. But the people it was funny to as since laughed over it.
And I am guessing you're in the class of people who likes to look down on people like Cordelia

Hahahaha, now I see. You are female and it's right you feel for your fellow gender. But don't forget it's her mate and gender that fought her not we the guys.
You guys are not there and don't know what she did, so you should stop defending what's not. 51 students just can't decide to not like you if you're character is not bad
Re: Pride Goeth Before A Fall: How The Most Beautiful And Proud Girl In My Class.... by Kalulu44(op): 1:19am On Mar 01
After reading many quotes and comments, I found out most people especially some females are angry about what happened to Cordelia and thereby term the classmates as envious of her. Some said it's bcus she's not a street girl like all of us that's why she's keeping her distance.
So it's the senior students that are not street like us. Or they impor them from her type of lifestyle and planted in sss classes.
You guys are not there and didn't know what happened. There's no sugar coating it, the Cordelia I saw and witness was a total let off and inhumane. She feel everybody in the class should lie down for her to passed upon.
If not for her pride and ego, why will that fight lead to her expelling herself from the school. Most of us that laughed at her then wore patch patch knicker, school shirt and even underwear. If not for how she carried herself, that fight wouldn't have happened in the first place. Nobody would have laughed at her, instead we would have separated the fight from the onset and even help in lifting her when she fell. But nope, everybody left her bcus of her pride, and she knows her pride has been wounded badly that's why she left the school.
Make una no come dey koeri here
Re: Pride Goeth Before A Fall: How The Most Beautiful And Proud Girl In My Class.... by Kalulu44(op): 2:01am On Mar 01
And now let me narrate another story of someone like Cordelia who was totally different.
In 1992 when I was in pry 5. A girl was transferred to our school and to our class.
Her name was Agbor from either Cross River or Akwa Ibom.
Her dad who I later found out was well to do was transferred to our area in Okoko as manager of one white construction company called Trevi.
They came all the way from Ikeja, according to her after we became acquaintance, her father said he wants her to complete her primary school in one of the govt public school, then he will send her to boarding for her secondary schooling.
.
Agbor as I later came to know was transferred from a good private school in Ikeja, while in our class Agbor wanted to colonize us with her good spoken English.
If we're speaking pidgin, she will quickly admonish us on how bad it's.
Like in the case of Cordelia, I didn't get close to her let alone wanting to be her friend, and therefore honestly speaking I didn't have hate for her. It's just thru other classmates I know of her.
But in the case of Agbor, na me carry the matter for head. Not that most of us can't speak good English, after all we write and answer our teacher's with good English.
Not that it's bad o, but her trying to impose it on us by force is what irks most of us especially me. So me and her became public enemy number 1 of the whole class.
Though in actual case, she wasn't fighting or quarreling with me, I was the one who tries to shut her influence down. I always shun and shut her down when she tries correcting most of us on what to do.
She has even come to me privately to ask me what she has done to me. I don't even give her ears. I don't know why I just hate her.
.
Then everything changed one day.
Our class teacher came into the class one day and said she doesn't like our sitting arrangements at all.
Each desk and chair contains three people at once. But instead of us mixing it. We jam-packed ourselves with boys boys on one side and girls girls on one side.
Our teacher said she wants to change the arrangements and mixed us.
After the arrangements, some chairs and desks had one boy two girls, while some had one girl two boys.
And guess what guys,I was fitted with two girls and Agbor my arch Enemy was one of them.
Within a week, our dynamics change from hate to each other or my hate for her to one of sweet friendship. Agbor and I found out we are both intelligent and we started teaching and learning from each other.
Our friendship became the surprise and talk of the class. Good a thing unlike Cordelia, even while I was hating on her, she has made a number of good friends both boys and girls.
But when I eventually came close to her, I found out she was a sweet girl.
Bcus of her I come to school as early as 6:30am which she always does bcus of her private school upbringing. Before assembly will start, we will find a quiet corner to sit down and just hold each other hands.
Let me just put it this way, it became pure childhood love without intimacy or s*x.
.
When we got promoted to pry 6, our headmistress invited most of us the old and brilliant students to her office to be given different prefects.
I was given time keeper, I declined that I don't want both the time keeper or any position. I'm not cut out for leadership or ordering people around. But instead I begged our headmistress a favor to help me include Agbor. That though she's just a year inside the school but her brilliance is top notch.
So our headmistress send for her, and hearing her speak. She was giving the role of assistant head girl. She could have gotten the head girl role but it would have been an injustice to another equally brilliant girl and an old school member.
So I influence her inclusion into the prefects bcus of the love I had for her then.
It was just painful I didn't get to see her again after our primary school education.
She was taking far off from Lagos.
.
So guys, juxtaposed this Agbor situation with Cordelia's own. They're both from well to do family even though Agbor's own was educated well to do while Cordelia's own was a self made business man.
But Agbor tried and succeeded in mingling with people she should have thought not in her class or level, not like in the case of Cordelia who thinks the whole world should bow to her bcus her father was rich.
And I believe it will stand Agbor in good stead in her future endeavors when interacting with people. Even though she was from a rich home, she brought herself down and mingled with some downtrodden, thereby learning one or two from them.
I rest my case!

Hahaha 😃😃

You see now? You hated Agbor because she was ajebuta who spoke good English among every other person who spoke pidgin English with pride. 😄

Agbor was only different to you because she mingled with some unlike Cordelia who mingled with only a few, still it didn't stop you from trying to pull her down, even at that tender age you all were.

Then the moment you got an opportunity to be in Agbor's circle, you mellowed and even felt privileged and began to see good in her.

And let me tell you Op, majority of you in that school could not speak good English because you were not raised that way.

Passing your English language and literature in English is not same as spoken English.

Agbor was different because of her orientation, coming from a private school.

But you lost me where you said you rejected a prefect role offered by the head teacher and instead recommended another person to her. Seriouslyhuh This part of your story get k-leg 🤣😂

Dafuq? At that age, primary school o, who give you liver to even reject prefect post that was offered to you, not to talk of even making recommendationhuhhuh?? Oboy, I'm sorry, I don't believe you!

MORESO, AT THOSE TIMES, PUBLIC SCHOOLS DIDN'T APPOINT PREFECTS AT PRIMARY SCHOOL LEVEL, class prefect may be. But adduno, your school might be an exception.

Listen, I'm trenches too! I schooled in Tolu around same time as you and I know as e dey go, nothing you wan tell me! I was street and still academically above average.

Both stories you narrated, I have experienced them all first hand, not as a victim, but as the antagonist. 🤣😂.

So be calming down with the shalaye Kalu. Both stories you narrated and my reactions to them came with the territory, nothing personal.

We were preparing for our Junior Waec. In our J.s.s 3 C was one beautiful girl named Cordelia. Just saying she's beautiful is understatement. Cordelia was gorgeous, and I can bet she'll be among the top 5 in the whole school.

Added to her beauty, she's intelligent and came from a privilege home. Her father is an importer in Alaba int'l market and from Imo state.
But there was one thing negative about Cordelia, the beauty, the intelligent and the coming from a wealthy background got into her head. She wasn't humble.

Cordelia was saucy, arrogant and boastful.
She only had just one friend in the whole class of 52 students, and never talk or mingle with anyone else except rolling with S.S.2 & 3 peeps.
By rolling with those seniors, all of us in her class are not her mate or in the same level.
Guys and some girls had tried to make friends with her, but the snubbing is out of this world. She will berate and be little you and always let you know you're not in her level and if you tried to beat or threatened to beat her, she will send the seniors after you.

Those ones will come like zombie and start punishing the person.
Those were the time when students still respect their seniors, not now a junior student fit change am for senior especially if them don join that their mumu cult.
.
So bcus of this, everyone avoided Cordelia like a plaque. But there has been tension brewing between her and a girl name Shekinat sitting next to her desk.

Shekinat, a Yoruba girl from Ibadan, Oyo state. Has always told her that one day she will beat her that she won't get the chance to go call her seniors boyfriends.

Cordelia has always mocked her that it's bcus she's jealous of her beauty and intelligence.
Then came the D-day, lunch break bell was rang and many students started walking out.
Me being an introvert person, it's only football matters that can take me out as at then. So I stayed back in class and started re-reading An African Night Entertainment. A book I have read many atimes.
I don't think we were up to 10 or 15 people remaining in class. So my head was buried in the book I was reading, when I heard the slap. I looked up and saw Cordelia just gave Shekinat a dirty slap. (Oya nah, the Royal Rumble fight we all have been waiting for has just started). Mehn! I dropped my novel and sat on top of my desk. Likewise other students in the class, (who wan go separate, something wey we all don dey wait for)
Shekinat replied with her own hot slap and then the dragging of shirt and pulling each other back and forth began.

Shekinat eventually overpowered her and pushed her hard backward untop of a desk and Cordelia flipped and fell to the other side raising her full gown up exposing only her pant.
.
Then everybody saw the unbelievable. Cordelia the most beautiful girl, wealthy, intelligent and proud was wearing a rainbow color pant that is torn in three different places exposing a slight of her [.....].
Like a rehearse and choreograph thing, almost everybody exclaimed! Hey, Cordelia tear tear pant.
And the singing and chorus and clapping started: "Cordelia, tear tear pant." "Cordelia, tear tear pant." It got loud that it attracted other students passing our balcony and they all stopped and leaned on our window to watch the show. Shekinat herself couldn't help but was laughing.
Meanwhile, Cordelia landed badly with her back and I guess the pain and shame didn't let her get up on time.
And when she eventually did, she faced down with tears rolling down her eyes, walked to her desk, opened it and gently carry her bag and then walked out of the class. Some people still followed her singing behind her while me and others still in the class started discussing about what just down and we walked up to Shekinat who was by now sitted and calm.
We stood her up and raised her hand singing "Winner oh oh oh" She was somehow shy but later received the accolades and said "let me see how she will go and call those seniors" All of us said "lai lai, dem no born am well" with this shame and humiliation, she no fit.
Before long, those that escorted her came back and said she left the school and went home. She lied she was sick.
.
Before you know it, words had spread round the school about what happened.
School closed we went home, the next day everybody was expecting her at school. We all want to check something, whether she go don mellow or still dey feel herself.
Cordelia didn't come to school the next day.
1 day became a week, a week turn to a month and that's how Cordelia stopped attending our school.
It was that her close friend who later hints us that Cordelia has been transferred to Owerri to go do her Waec. She said her parents told her so when she went to pay her visit, but no reason was giving for the change.
Guys! Na so our beautiful Cordelia take vamose and carry her shakara comot for our miss, all thanks to Shekinat who exposed her unintentionally.
Sometimes in life, God and nature have a way of dealing with people like.

Akpacha:
In 1996 u are already in JSS3. U should be in ur late 40s. This post, like all these Genz boys.
I've told you guys that we gen Z(1997–2012) are not the problem: the problem is the millennials, gen x and baby boomers; they're the real traitors of humanity and epitomes of unseriousness and irresponsibility, especially the African version. I guess our grannies and great grannies are almost regretting giving birth to them. So y'all should leave gen z's alone, or better still respect us; we're picking up the pieces that already had been shattered to smittereens. Thanks.

If you were not legally married to her, you're free to marry one woman, at her than living in moral decadence.
