The wife squandered the money her husband gave her to start business
I worked so hard to save ₦700k for my wife to finally start her business. The goal was simple: support her dreams so she could eventually help me shoulder some of the family's financial load.

Fast forward to today:
• No shop rented.
• No business started.
• The ₦700k? Gone.

When I ask for an account, she stays silent. Even her own mother has begged her to speak up, but still nothing. I feel like my hustle was taken for granted.

How do you handle a partner who isn't transparent with "joint" progress?

Oga 700k would buy her shoes, perfumes, handbags and co. Which she can sell online to prospective customers. How do you think all these online vendors started.

All she has to do is to register with a reliable plug who can even give her products on credit and she can pay after selling.

The wife is very unproductive. And for you to type this you're nothing but a lazy Nigerian yoot.

Now, on the topic....

Unless a woman has obviously shown real ability in managing a business, or has gotten training in it and she shows the zeal, don't waste money trying to "FORCE" abi invest in a new business for her.

You need to have a conversation with her (wife) and then support her efforts with something - but she has to be financially invested too - if a person doesn't have anything to lose, they don't value what's in their hands.

These are the kind of conversations y'all don't have during dating - maybe she would have benefitted more from getting a skill than business.

Well, since she can't work to make her own money, I will place her on some stipends and tokens.
It's clear she prefers to wash her hands with spit instead of water, that she will get.
The only time I will have serious issues with her is if she dares complain about the tokens I'm giving her.

One can always start small and create something big for oneself. Stop encouraging Idiocy and entitlement.
A woman who couldn't turn 700k to 750k won't still be able to turn 7m to 7.5m.
How can she manage much when she couldn't even manage little?

If I were the man, my 50/50 family responsibilities and bills still stands. I will keep providing my part and let her provide hers, but the day she didn't provide or play her Part, then that's her business, my money won't come out. Then she has to be paying her all bills one way or the other and my money won't be involved.
It so simple

It doesn’t always work out the way we think. It has lots of advantages and many more disadvantages. You’ll expect her to forgive you if you ever face rough patches after you’ve established that kind of rule? Some of you are funny Aswear 😂

I am not surprised at what the woman did, I am only surprised that it took so long for the man to know this part of the woman. Some people are married to destiny wasters. I pray you discover it early enough.

Do you expect me to forgive her after soiling my hands and cuffing out more than half a million just to support her in what she intend doing, only for her to squander it fulishly without any tangible prove to show for?

These two scenarios are completely different. In this case, the husband is the sole provider, so it’s natural for him to feel the pressure. However, your 50/50 analogy is flawed for a few reasons. First, while a wife is meant to support the home, a 50/50 split should be a mutual agreement, not a forced policy. You sound like you’re imposing it. If she doesn’t "sub" for the Wi-Fi and you do, does that mean she’s banned from using it? Think about how ridiculous that sounds.

Secondly, in this age, things change in the blink of an eye. Your wife’s financial status could easily surpass yours, and you’ll be the one on the receiving end. When she starts "fully implementing" your 50/50 policy, will you be able to bear the brunt when your bags are thrown outside just because she’s the one who paid the rent?

You’ll probably call her wicked then, but I actually pray she has the mind to leave you outside the house to enjoy your own "policy." It is normal for a wife to support the home, but imposing a 50/50 split is just looking for trouble. Marriage is a union, not just living together. It’s like a Venn diagram—overlapping, not divided.

If you want your wife to go into business, marry a girl that is into family business or already running her own business, if not you will just waste your money on a lady without business orientation.

Or let her go into apprenticeship for a period of time on her choice of business before establishing her, for your peace and mental well-being.

....hmmm. Be grateful for little stuff. A good woman who multiplies value is best described in Proverbs 31:10-31, which portrays a diligent, wise, and industrious woman (a virtuous wife) who enhances her household's prosperity. Specific verses highlight her as more precious than rubies (v. 10), trusted by her husband (v. 11), and as one who works willingly to increase her family’s well-being.
