Peter Obi Never Said That Crashing The Price Of Food Would Make Farmers Poor by gidgiddy(op): 11:55pm On Mar 01
We all know that some unscrupulous people will try to twist whatever Peter Obi says to mean another thing, just because they want their preferred candidate to win. They see Obi as a threat, and rightly so, he is. But nobody should allow misrepresentation fly.

They are now saying that Peter Obi is against drop in food prices, that it would make local farmers poor. But this what Obi said

"Someone told me that food prices have gone down. Actually, we have killed all our farmers. Because we have imported cheap goods and thrown our farmers into poverty which will worsen the hungry situation of Nigeria in the coming future"

What I believe Obi was trying to tell Nigerians here is that the seeming drop in food prices was due to importation, which would adversely affect affect local production in the future

What Peter Obi said was true. Rather than invest in local farmers so they increase their output and lower prices, they decided to import cheap products, which will eventually make us import dependent in the near future.

If OBJ hadn’t empowered Dangote to produce cement and other products in Nigeria, and had instead relied on imports, cost of building and construction would’ve been very high today.

How many local farmers did obi invested or empowered in anambra before opening his next importation supermarket in Fct.

💯 Of the product sold in his supermarket are imported from abroad.

Obi does not think before opening his mouth.

I mean why try to give another interpretation to what we all heard and understood.

No difference between Obi and his supporters

That’s not how to play politics, people are enjoying the massive crash in food stuffs yet your principal doesn’t like that, he wants the farmers to continue HOLDING US to RANSOM with their ridiculous prices, lol.
Imagine a Congo of imported rice to be 4500 and our local farmers with their unrefined rice pegged theirs too at 4000, now tell me how it makes sense Abeg!. Abhi you didn’t also buy the rice too? Oyinbo rice were imported o, while our own was made locally and yet the price difference wasn’t even felt, lol.

If I were Peter Obi, I would have commended the price of foods coming down but add the clause that FG can do better with the price of other goods and services. That would have been better than his earlier reckless statement claiming the farmers will suffer

You see this lamba King's statement, there is no way you can twist it, because this was not his stand when the prices of food was going up.

Please ask your lamba king, the fake 'mess-liar' of our time to tell us what food exactly is being imported. It is tomatoes, yam, beans, palm oil, plantain, banana, garri, soya beans?

We know what he said and we understand that he is not happy that food is reducing so that he can have something to campaign with next year. That is if he is even able to win the primaries.

I disagree with Mr Obi.The high prices of food in 2024 forced many people to farm last year and God was so merciful last year in giving us abundant rainfall leading to bumber harvest hence the fall in food prices.
Re: Peter Obi Never Said That Crashing The Price Of Food Would Make Farmers Poor by glolomoh: 10:26am On Mar 02
While I understood his argument that food importation would kill local food production and farmer's business, I must say that the food importation is necessary at this period because when nigerian farmers were given the opportunity to feed the nation during Buhari regime and early part of Tinubu regime, they almost kill us with food inflation, hunger and famine. They deliberately created artificial scarcity in order to increase the price. They thrown the country into chaos for their selfish gain. They make bumper profit at the masses expenses. And, instead of using these greedily acquired profit to improve and enlarge their business, they were spending as if there will be no tomorrow.

I keep on maintaining it that an average nigerian should not be given monopolistic advantage for any essential commodity. Let them compete locally and globally.

It’s fine to defend your favorite candidate, but in this case, you’re missing a key point: standing by his statement risks pushing away the voters he desperately needs. Think about it—compare Nigeria’s farmer population (who might back his words) to the far larger group of everyday people thriving on today’s lower food prices. I hope that lands now.
