A Nigerian woman in Sharjah, UAE, has said she will not return to Nigeria even if evacuation flights are arranged, following tensions linked to Iran’s missile retaliation against U.S. strikes.

Her comments have triggered debate online.

A Nigerian woman based in the United Arab Emirates has sparked reactions online after declaring that she would not return to Nigeria, even if the government sent an aircraft to evacuate citizens.

The woman, who filmed herself in the Al Nahda area of Sharjah on February 28, 2026, made the statement amid heightened tensions between Israel, Iran, and the United States. Her video followed reports of Iran’s missile retaliation against U.S. strikes, which reportedly caused explosions felt in parts of Dubai and Abu Dhabi, with one fatality recorded.

In the clip, she repeatedly said, “The gods of my father should protect us,” while expressing confidence in her safety in the UAE. She also advised other Nigerians not to board any evacuation flights that might be arranged by the Nigerian government.

According to her, despite the recent blasts, she still believes life in the UAE is safer than in Nigeria.

Her comments have since generated mixed reactions on social media, with some supporting her stance and others criticizing her remarks.

She is from a very poor and dysfunctional family background here in Nigeria. It is her dream to stay very far from her very poor and/or dysfunctional family as long and far as posibble. She is deceiving herself by making it seem like it is someone else's problem or general thing.

You can not be the child of Dangote, Otedọla etc or any of the succsssful families that send you overseas and you can dare not to come back.
