At 36, I’ve never experienced 24-hour electricity in Nigeria – Music Producer, Sarz

Ace producer and music executive, Osabuohien Osaretin, popularly known as Sarz, has spoken extensively about the negative impacts of poor infrastructures, especially epileptic electricity supply, on the creative industry in Nigeria.

Appearing in a recent episode of the Afropolitan podcast, Sarz explained that unavailability of electricity at the time creatives are inspired could lead to waste of potentials.

The 36-year-old emphasised that despite being born and raised in Nigeria, he has never experienced electricity for 24 hours in the country

'' I was born and raised in this country and I have never experienced electricity for 24 hours. There are times when I wake up feeling inspired and I want to create music but there is not light. Sometimes, even when you want to buy fuel, they will tell that there is a strike or scarcity. And then you end up doing not nothing and the potential just waste,” he said.

“As a creative person, you need to be mentally charged to perform at your best. So, when the infrastructure is lacking the moment you are mentally charged, it is a challenge,” Sarz added

The producer emphasised that infrastructure is very vital for the entertainment industry to thrive, stressing that the Nigerian entertainment industry is limited by lack of infrastructure.

I hope Sarz will not be tagged ADC member.
I complained about the epileptic power in the country here on nairaland.

To my great surprise a nairalander said he enjoys 22hrs of power in lagos, when I asked where exactly do you stay in lagos the dimwit lost his tongue..

Honestly every Nigerian need to be given a Guinness World record for surviving Nigeria..

Go and sleep in Dangote Refinery complex you should be able to experience 24 hours light ... Nigeria cannot experience 24hrs light because majority of our population have been rendered unproductive to even pay for unsubsidized electricity bills and the electricity industry is one of the major cause of this unproductivity.

Politics and sentiments aside,24/7 power in Nigeria is not possible.

It would cost Nigeria up to 5 trillion naira or more to generate and distribute stable power supply,of which Nigeria doesn't have the money.

These is not about APC or pdp,the maths doesn't add up.

you guys aren't getting the point, just because you've experienced 24h electricity supply doesn't mean Nigeria's electricity challenge doesn't exist!!!

for Pete's sakes someone up there commented "Nigeria cannot afford to supply electricity"

since 1960huh

the most populous black nation on Earth cannot generate electricityhuhhuh

and y'all are acting like it's normalhuh

we should all have collective shame as a race if that's the case!

"ohhhhh whites are jealous of us" "ohhhhh civilisation started in Africa" "we wuz kingssss and shiii"

freaking clowns!!!!!

electricity is not rocket science!!!!!!

abeg, there is no excuse for power failure in 2026 other than institutionalised corruption.

Sarz is really “on the beat” with this one. So pathetic honestly. To have “24 hours light” you would need to create it yourself with “alternative sources” like Generator or solar etc. God help us o

It's just like saying APC will change after next year's election. Nigeria and Nigerians can never have steady power supply. Everything in this country has already been mortgaged by our leaders to their lenders.
