The New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano State has cautioned the Kano State House of Assembly to proceed carefully over moves to remove the elected deputy governor of the state.

The party issued the warning in a statement on Thursday, signed by its Publicity Secretary, Ibrahim Karaye.

In the statement, the party said that, considering the current political realignments and defections, the Assembly should recognise that an elected official cannot be forced to take decisions that go against his principles.

The NNPP also urged the Kano State Government to avoid actions that could lead to an unnecessary political crisis in the state.

According to the party, the political environment in Kano is already sensitive, and any action that could worsen the situation should be avoided.

The party further stated that its members are law-abiding citizens who believe strongly in the rule of law.

It therefore called for its members to be allowed to express their political views freely without facing prejudice or intimidation.

Recall that on Thursday, the Kano State House of Assembly initiated impeachment proceedings against Deputy Governor Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo over allegations of gross misconduct, abuse of office, and breach of public trust.

If they are backed by Abuja there is nothing NNPP can do. The Governor is now one with the APC at the Center. Kwankwanso Probably overrated himself in Kano politics and didnt play this well.

Ganduje's incumbent APC was backed by Abuja and Kwankwanso influenced NNPP defeating APC in Kano governorship and presidential election.

Defection of deputy Governor is not by force but loyalty to your Governor is very sacrosanct.

That's my argument too, I've not seen anywhere that it's against the law.
But I trust the law makers won't base their impeachment move on that, they will have other issues where he might have erred and they will take advantage of it to get him impeached.
