When merit is traded on the alter of mediocrity and nepotism. The Nigerian Police has lost a brilliant gentleman to nepotism.
Only your type will see this as nepotism. The new IG is his senior in ranking right from the onset. He enjoyed accelerated promotion over his peers but you did not talk about it. Now the table is turned, you are now foaming in the mouth.

The defective political compromise of the security architecture of Nigeria has really bastardized professionalism.
Frank Mba in 1992 joined as cadet officer, Current IG joined in 1992 as ASP. Go figure. The two individuals have distinguished themselves and time and chance happen to them all.

Resigning after saluting Disu in public
There's no need for that
A truly honorable man should have resigned immediately Disu was appointed
Re: DIG Frank Mba Retires After 34 Years Of Service by LARRYOBRAIN(m): 2:15pm On Mar 06
He is also a beneficiary of mediocrity and nepotism, how can he senior the person that joined the force before him. Disu's own was a knock - out.

The more the Igbos flogg this retirement the more they create unhealthy atmosphere for him in the face of the government who would consider an appointment for him to be seen as out of guilt instead of reward and acknowledgement of his good works. If this happens, he would be forgotten for good.

You all know it is bound to happen. Why trivialize it.

He's not better than Disu and moreover Disu is his senior so your reasoning is warp....

If we are to go by your first paragraph that means MBA got to that apogee by mediocrity and not merit also

Happy retirement sir. We will miss you and all that you stand for. This is hoping you will take up service in the courts. Many Nigerians need you there, for the sake of our human right.

Disu is 2 years ahead of MBA in the Police force as they did not join the NPF the same year

He didn't start the work as a DIG na.
OnionBandit:
But 34 years is a whole lot o, Chai! if you remain in the service for that long, how do you expect others to have the opportunity to join the police force?

Well, he was a fantastic officer. I wish him well

How was he cheated? The current IG is his senior. He was promoted 2 ranks because there was a slot available for the SE and he was the most senior Ibo at the time.

Ordinarily he should never have been a DIG. He didn’t get there on merit in the 1st place.

You didn’t hear anyone complain when he was promoted above Disu who is his superior simply to fill ethnic quota.

What no one is talking about is the opportunity of turning these seasoned professionals into the stronghold that will formidably manage the new state police.

I mean, imagine each of these people who are also almost on the same level of the IG, handling each state police mechanism.

That means Nigeria would have 36+1 IG level thinkers rather than the customary 1 IG of police.

That's what America has with its counties. All the people heading their county cops have the same management capacity as qualification as the best cops in the land. And most times are retired cops at the highest levels too.

#Very good opportunity#

You have done your best.👍
Serving in a country where tribalism have eaten deep, yet they expect magic 🪄.

A country where..
Mazi Nnamdi Kanu from South East is the prison while his counterparts from other regions are being given awards and title.

Indeed there was a country!!!

Lol! that's not the issue. It doesn't matter one bit! have you ever seen anyone who is DIG for 34 years? I am just saying they shouldnt be allowed to be in service for that long, so as to create space for other people who want to join

35yrs isn't too much, it's a good time for the investor(nation) to get returns and the employee to work actively.
Some are even likely to retire at less than 60yrs
There are about 10levels if you enter from ASP, meaning that's average of 3½yrs per level before retirement if you retire as an IG, which is not too much, some organisations, it might take about 5yrs or more to attain the next level
