Do you think Dangote gets crude oil in Nigeria for free?

If last week crude oil was $60 per barrel and today it's $90+, all thanks to the current war in the Middle East, how do you expect Dangote to sell petrol today at the same ame rate he sold last week?

Price of crude oil is not set by Nigeria or the FG. Nigeria will sell her oil at the same rate as the global rate.

Yes Dangote buys crude from the FG in naira, at the price set by the global rate and current exchange rate.

The FG won't sell at a lower rate because Dangote is an indigenous refinery. In case you don't know, the FG also need the revenue from oil sales to run her budget and for FAAC.

Many of you only went to school, you didn't learn anything.

Keep cheering the the USA and Israel for that senseless war. We will all suffer the consequences together. They say Iran is losing; someone even said Iranians are lazy thinkers. Lol. Learners!

I have never trust this Dangote for a bit. That man is a wicked business man, from cement to crude, you can not gain anything from him. The day Nigeria government will stop this monopoly and give other people chance to compete, then the price of fuel, gas, cement will come down

Yes he's importing. Nigeria has committed her crude for loan which makes it hard for local refineries to access crude. It's common knowledge.

He is importing crude oil. The government have used our crude to borrow money from international lenders.

The rationale of selling to the Dangote Refinery in Naira has been totally defeated.

From the look of things, the refinery is more interested in exporting it's refined products abroad than the Nigerian market.

That being the case, the FGN must therefore revert to selling to Dangote Refinery in dollars so that we know that the euphoria that trailed the opening of the refinery was misplaced.

Dangote: once a Shylock always a Shylock!

Not really. Dangote is importing a large percentage of the crude oil it refines in Nigeria, and they buy them at the prevailing global market price.

Buhari mortgaged Nigeria's crude oil in exchange for loans. Hence we do not have enough for our local refineries.

I just counted 52 comments and only you and kushites said anything remotely learned. That's slightly less than 4%.

Hmmmm.

For other people reading;

1. Dangote buys his crude at the same price every refinery in the world buys it. The only difference is that Nigeria allows him to pay that same exact amount in Naira rather than dollars.

2. So when crude becomes more expensive in the world, Nigeria also sells higher to every of its customer, including Aliko's refinery, to make more money as a country and share to governors to improve the lives of every Nigerian, both people using fuel and those who are not.

3. If Nigeria should sell to Dangote at a lower price, because of the residents of Nigeria, then it will have brought back SUBSIDY. And as a country, it doesn't want to do it.

4. The prayer is that the price for international crude does not spike. Simple.

Most nations with oil wealth and local refineries like Dangote's don't change prices overnight once of there are hiccups in the international market. Price of gasoline has been stable in Saudi, Qatar, Kuwait. We didn't hear Saudi Aramco increasing prices. Even in Brazil the local refineries including Petrobras hasn't increased prices even by a penny. It's only those importing finished products that have increased price by about 10% not local refineries.

Many local refineries always have 1 or 2 months buffer period before product increases. So what's all this nonsense by Dangote.

This is exactly what the sacked Midstream man was fighting. MONOPOLY. I know it will come to this
