A Call To Uphold Standards And Professionalism in The Nigeria Police Force
Cc: @TunjiDisu1 @PSCNigeria @PoliceNG

As a concerned stakeholder, it's become pertinent to speak up, send reminders and enlighten the public as well. I wish to emphasize that the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) is a premier security institution built on the pillars of training, professionalism, hard work, and discipline. It is imperative that citizens acknowledge and support these core values, rather than allowing distractions and manipulations to undermine the Force's integrity.

The NPF has consistently demonstrated its commitment to excellence, and it is even more crucial at this point in our country that we reinforce this by vehemently rejecting attempts to politicize or sensationalize security matters.

Firstly, the Nigeria Police Force has an official channel of Communication and should there be need to pass official information, the institution is disciplined enough to use it.

Secondly, As far as I know, there is no is no change in the leadership of the Force Public Relations Department.

It's important to say that the appointment of a Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), for instance, is a rigorous process that requires specific qualifications and experience, including command-level experience; which is that an officer must have been a command PPRO, and must have work experience at the Force Headquarters FPRD, for the sole purpose of understudying the workings and ethics of the office. Very key also is the National Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) membership in accordance with the provisions of the NIPR Act 2004, and of course the officer must possess expertise in communication and public relations;
fluency in speaking, writing, not leaving out appearance, dressing aura and charisma. The bars are high !

My fellow citizens should at this point be mindful of the information they consume and share especially on social media space and must reject attempts by desperate individuals hell bent on feeding the public with misinformation.

Severally, the NPF has chided against the spread of misinformation and flagged it as a serious offence that can have far-reaching consequences according to the law. It therefore would be a misnormer for personnel to involve in such directly or via hatchet jobbers or mercenary. It's advisable that police officers refrain from masterminding or plotting questionable acts, especially those born out of selfish ambitions and instead focus on upholding the integrity of the Force.

Security matters must not be politicized for any reason, and any attempt to do so must be flagged by well meaning citizens as a deliberate act of sabotage first against the IGP, then the entire system. The stakes are high, and it shouldn't be reduced to noise or social media hype.

We must prioritize the nation's security and stability above personal interests. Nigerians are dealing with so much at the moment and it will be callous for any human to be a distraction especially if it's coming from a person trained to be part of critical work of securing our nation.

No Nigeria who loves Nigeria or wishes that the Nigeria Police Force improves and does better would be so quick to post falsehood knowing very well that such information it is sponsored out of selfishness or wickedness. Please let's do better!

To the tactical 23rd Inspector General of Police, Tunji Disu, Sir, once again I congratulate you on your appointment and offer my support and encouragement for you to remain focused on the vital task of securing Nigeria, ignoring false narratives and distractions even as I reiterate my commitment to continue partnering with the NPF to enhance community relations and achieve shared goals under your leadership.

For the purpose of the subject matter, I have set aside all designation and would sign simply as;

Yours Sincerely,

Ms. Oluchi Nwosu
Citizen Federal Republic of Nigeria
