1. From what am seeing here, you shouldn't exceed 70 2. If the area is a sediment, 10 bar is recommended to avoid collapse of the well 3. Point 2 is better than point 6 4. Count the drilling pipes when they are drill drilling ( each pipe should be between 5m to 6m) to determine the actual depth they drilled 7. Give them the full package i.e let them buy all the materials and demand for good and lasting water |

99thEnemy:First and foremost, what is the goal of the borehole? Is it for home or farm/commercial use? If its for home use, there is no need for 160m. With point 2 will even be good with 40m - 50m depth, but if you would use it for commercial, you can make it 70m to 100m to have more buffer. You will need to go to deeper if you will be using the point 6 either for home or commercial use. My candid advise, don't tell them the depth you would eventually settle for till they get to site, keep counting the number of rig that they use. Each rig is about 5m length (or thereabout) and keep your eyes open. After they must have got to about 40m (or based on use depth I earlier mentioned) on point 2, you should be good water for use. Please note that this advise is not from an expert. |

Recommended depth is 160m approximately 528ft plus n minus 6mtrs...if u minus 6mtrs then Recommended depth is 508ft..u can drill 480ft and it will sustain... Recommended casing for such depth is 4½inches casing...15 casing (12bar), 15casing (10bar) others can be 8bar....Puncturing is negotiable... |

If the water at 70m is not enough then you have to reach 180m to tape completely into the aquifer |

The fact is most people believe too much in geological surveys when it comes to borehole. That's quite misleading most times. In every area, local govt and state there are groups of drillers who have mastered the deapth of good water in their territory due to years of drilling in that area. Sometimes earlier in the field geological surveys made us fail some drilling. Just look for guys that have dominated drilling in that area and beg them to use good materials to finish the work. |

Cmeo:It is for home use. The issue with the area is that most boreholes around become dry wells during the dry season, so the person that carried out the survey said the depth must reach a reasonable aquifer zone. |

smartokc:Since the water table during dry season in the area tends to become low, I was thinking between 100m - 120m. |

Timoleon:I am just concerned about the pricing for punching, the recommended materials I should buy if I am to get them myself. |

Onyemaboy:Thanks for this, it actually skipped my memory to ask for advice on this. Was told Grundfos is the best but it is too expensive. But is 1.5hp submersible pump not too small in capacity for a depth of 160 meters? |
| Re: Borehole Experts, Please Help Me Interpret This Survey Report And Drilling Quote by Cmeo(m): 11:07am On Mar 08 |
99thEnemy:When was this survey done? How recent is it? |
| Re: Borehole Experts, Please Help Me Interpret This Survey Report And Drilling Quote by femi4: 11:09am On Mar 08 |
Onyemaboy:0.75hp n above is better For a 160 m borehole, a 0.5 HP pump is too small |
| Re: Borehole Experts, Please Help Me Interpret This Survey Report And Drilling Quote by 99thEnemy(op): 11:11am On Mar 08 |
Rajiolaade:Then that means what the surveyor said about 160m on both points is not correct as I feared. Because at Point 6, it is orange at 160 meters . |

Ate247:I thought as much too. I believe the flow rate with 1.5hp at that depth will be poor. |

99thEnemy:/ They have achieved their aim which is to confuse and convince you. You will have a better life in Nigeria if you keep your trust level to the barest minimum. Get quotations from two or more drillers and things will start to make sense. / |

geosegun:Thank you very much for this. Also, I am having concern about the distance away from the soak-away, is 10 meters OK? Also, what is the current price that should be reasonable for punching at that depth. I am thinking of supplying the casing myself. Also, for casing, what Diameter, Thickness, and Pressure (Bar) rating should I use? Should I use a higher Bar down and continue with a lesser one towards the top? |
| Re: Borehole Experts, Please Help Me Interpret This Survey Report And Drilling Quote by 99thEnemy(op): 11:22am On Mar 08 |
engrajoo1:Thanks alot. That is what I will do if me buying the materials and just paying for punching doesn't seam feasible at the end. |

Lol do u know that you pay for the agreed meters before they start working? And if they reach the point where u paid for and there is no water, they will begin preparing to pack up Cmeo: |

Kinterez:Thanks for this. How much do you think is a reasonable price for puncturing for 160m? The person was telling me 14,000 naira per meter for just puncturing, which doesn't add up because the quote he gave was 17,000 per meter where he will be the one to provide the 8-bar casing. I am thinking puncturing should be way way less. |
