Nigerians Express Outrage Over Recent Petrol Price Hike by SarcasticWords(op): 12:35pm On Mar 08
Nigerians have expressed widespread frustration following the recent increase in fuel prices. According to reports by DAILY POST, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, has raised the price of premium motor spirit (PMS) for the second time in just four days.

On Saturday, the state-owned company adjusted the price from N960 to N967 per liter, marking a N7 per liter increase.

The new fuel price has already been implemented at NNPCL filling stations in Abuja and its surrounding areas, sparking reactions from motorists and consumers across the country.

Speaking to DAILY POST, Darlington Ebube, a resident in Abuja, expressed displeasure over the hike in fuel prices, questioning the reason behind the hike.

In his words “ I don’t even know why they increased it like this. How is it that fuel now is one thousand plus, and it’s going to be hard now because both transport to go out will increase and the condition of this country will just get worse. The funny thing is if fuel increases everything increases.

Other Nigerians on social media also expressed their frustration over the increase.

@ADESNUR said, Why the sudden inflation, why the sudden cost?

@TOPTTTT: The frustration is understandable, but the focus should be on global factors and supply stability, not the refinery alone.

@killer bean: We have our own oil, Our one refineries, but still got affected by the war

@adello: I don’t know Why Nigeria Government would be depending on Dangote, Dangote that he’s after his pocket

@IDRISGARBA, With the cost of living already high, any petrol price increase will hit Nigerians hard..

@Marvis: Your won’t even see anything tangible reason behind the hikes in price across the country, we are the ones producing our fuel and yet we are the ones suffering

@Damnit c: He said would not make petrol scarce he never promised it’ll be cheap. I blame the government for all this.

@Christopher: Before Dangote was our petroleum price cheap ? Are you shifting blame to a business man who has been over charged with taxes and high price of crude.

The recent increase is base on high cost of crude in the international market due to the ongoing war in Iran, that is seriously affecting the Middle East.
It obviously will affect Nigeria cos price of crude to Dangote refinery must be in tune with international market price.
Same affects cost of importation.
Still likely to go higher in the days ahead.

Which Nigerians are expressing outrage?

is it only Obidients, Peter Obi, MNK, screw driver seller in Onitsha and Donald Trump that are expressing outrage ?... grin

They vote in nonsense and expect the nonsense to make sense, for those who will come and talk nonsense about the war in Iran, the question I will be asking you is:

If the price of crude oil goes up, isn't it supposed to be blessing to Nigeria that sells oil?

And if the price of petrol goes up because of that, isn't Nigeria supposed to be making more money to cushion the effect on the citizens?

So why were you people all blaming Jonathan for selling crude oil at over 100$ per barrel when he constantly paid subsidy in return to cushion the effect on Nigerians while Tinubu is selling high and is not cushioning the effects, you people can't even say where the extra profit is going to because all the ministries are currently underfunded and Nigeria is running 3 different year budgets because of failure to meet implementations year after year.

What a shame on Tinubu and his supporters, what are Nigerians gaining from higher prices of crude oil like in GEJ's time?

@yinkus6750...

Dangote buys majority of his crude locally.

I don't even know the benefit of the refinery in Nigeria.

Even if they would be an increase in price it's still too early!

We thank Dangote refinery for championing this increase and wish him well as he continues to raise prices.

Re: Nigerians Express Outrage Over Recent Petrol Price Hike by FitCorper: 1:15pm On Mar 08
This is exactly what I said, increment twice in a week? It seems dangote just sits down and adjusts price with a slight move in price of crude oil. That man is ruthless and doesn’t care about us one bit like he made us believe. It’s no longer dollar and now crude oil determining the economic ground of our country. Government must do something to curtail Dangote.
