The recent increase is base on high cost of crude in the international market due to the ongoing war in Iran, that is seriously affecting the Middle East.
It obviously will affect Nigeria cos price of crude to Dangote refinery must be in tune with international market price.
Same affects cost of importation.
Still likely to go higher in the days ahead.
But is Nigeria not selling crude oil too and making money from the windfall..so we only partake in the suffering aspect but not on the gainful aspect?

Emancipate thyself

Re: Nigerians Express Outrage Over Recent Petrol Price Hike by mightyhaze: 1:25pm On Mar 08
Simple ..the profits we make in the sales of crude oil which is massive due to the clash of arms in the Persian gulf should be used to cushion whatever bad effect it's bringing

I'm not surprised. The whole world is expressing outrage too.....

This is not a Nigerian thing...

It's a global thing...

If u want the prices of fuel not to increase, beg USA and Iran to stop the war... It's that simple...

In a deregulated fuel-based economy, the pump price of gasoline around the world fluctuates based off of the international price of crude oil. Is it too difficult for a lot of these people to understand? They should be grateful that things aren't WORSE than this.

Fortunately, Nigeria now has the Dangote Petrochemical Refinery operating in Ibeju-Lekki in Lagos State which has minimized the full impact of high global energy prices. Without Dangote Petrochemical Refinery, fuel queues and hoarding would have obviously returned to the streets of Nigerian cities. Akwa Ibom State is ALSO gearing up for a new Petrochemical Refinery being built by BUA Group (owned by the Forbes-listed USD billionaire, Abdulsamad Isiaku-Rabiu).

The fuel price is NEVER going to be fixed in a deregulated system and that's the way it is in South Africa, the United States, the United Kingdom, etc.

We easily blamed big companies for trying to survive... But we don't blame the poor for making life more difficult

When petrol was 1200+
Transport increased price, when it can down to 800 they didn't reduce prices

Now it went back to 1k
They are increasing prices again

But na Dangote be the problem...
Price of crude has jumped.

Even if Dangote is buying it in Naira, it's been sold at international price

I don't know for these people but I had asked the keke driver yesterday and he said that the petrol stations increased their price and it is affecting them as well, plus the long queues.

I feel this incoming week might be worse.

Which Nigerians are expressing outrage?

is it only Obidients, Peter Obi, MNK, screw driver seller in Onitsha and Donald Trump that are expressing outrage ?... grin

They vote in nonsense and expect the nonsense to make sense, for those who will come and talk nonsense about the war in Iran, the question I will be asking you is:

If the price of crude oil goes up, isn't it supposed to be blessing to Nigeria that sells oil?

And if the price of petrol goes up because of that, isn't Nigeria supposed to be making more money to cushion the effect on the citizens?

So why were you people all blaming Jonathan for selling crude oil at over 100$ per barrel when he constantly paid subsidy in return to cushion the effect on Nigerians while Tinubu is selling high and is not cushioning the effects, you people can't even say where the extra profit is going to because all the ministries are currently underfunded and Nigeria is running 3 different year budgets because of failure to meet implementations year after year.

What a shame on Tinubu and his supporters, what are Nigerians gaining from higher prices of crude oil like in GEJ's time?
You b confirm Olodo

This is not fault of government

DON'T MIND THEM.

THEY ARE BLAMING TINUBU AFTER SUPPORTING US INVASION OF IRAN THAT'S CAUSING THE HIGH OIL PRICE.

And it might go higher if Trump remains in Iran fighting them! grin grin

I wonder how much they still support the illegal invasion. grin

That's the thing about supporting injustice against others.

That injustice will reach your doorstep, one way or the other.

It's a universal, Karmic law. wink
