My fellow Nigerians, lets leave sentiment and tribalism for once and tell ourselves the honest truth. The political and economic trajectory of the present day Nigeria is leading us nowhere. Now, I am not going to put the blame solely on this present regime, the decay has been there for long. I was born in the beginning of the 80s and I can confidently say I began knowing myself and things around me by 1988. Meaning, I witnessed live and direct the regime of IBB. It was during IBB's regime I started hearing nicknames for him like "Maradona, Evil Genuis, Chop I Chop e.t.c." These nicknames stem from his activities as a military leader. Maradona been how he dribbles his way around opposition, enemies and even acquaintance. Evil genuis on how brutal and wicked he's to destroy any perceived enemies. And lastly to some populace who hailed him as a chop I chop president especially from fraudsters like "Ade Bendel, Ezego" and co who benefited immensely from him and then business moguls like Mike Adenuga, Kalu Uzor Orji and co who also benefited from his generousity. Depending on whose divide you may belong to, the general consensus was that he's bad. . Then came his successor Sani Abacha, 2yrs or so into his regime. The people started yearning for IBB. Abacha in the eyes of majority populace became the evil itself turning IBB into a saint. Abubakar after Abacha just did his bit and honourably handed over to civilian rule which he will be rmbr for. Then came in OBJ as the 2nd republic civilian government. OBJ did his own best, but many people was clamoring for more and needed someone else. I can still rmbr in OBJ's regime some hush hush talks of ah! E be like say Abacha own still better o. Then came in Good luck Jonathan, sorry I have to skip Yar Adua cause I can't actually pinpoint what he did and what he didn't. Jonathan came in, and corruption started staring Nigerians in the face. Yes there was corruption during OBJ's tenure, but it amplified during Jonathan's reign. It was so bad under Jonathan that Nigerians including I that my one and only time I have ever voted in my life was for Jonathan, clamored for a change from Jonathan and PDP entirely. APC capitalize on the clamor of the citizens and rightly so by adding fuel to it with their different propaganda. I can beat my chest and say apart from Bola Tinubu and his propaganda machinery, 80% of Nigerians including people now saying Jonathan was gold bla bla bla wanted him out then naturally. But will you blame us for thinking so, people always think the grass is greener at the other end and will always go for it no matter what. We all needed a change from Jonathan and PDP and we got what we wanted. . Then APC and Buhari took Nigerians to another dimension that I can't believe same Nigerians that wanted Jonathan out started clamoring for him to be back. APC and Buhari spent their 8yrs blaming Jonathan and PDP, and fail to do nothing. Since I know myself, I have never seen a president so hated and talked about by the majority populace like Buhari. Even a newborn baby knows and have heard of Buhari bcus how their parents feel hardship under him and talks about him as the problem of why they're not doing well. With Buhari, I thought no other president can beat his incompetence and much talked about. Then our new president Tinubu took it to a whole new level. His own started from the first day he was inaugurated. And the masses complaint started from that day. 3yrs on, we are still hearing "soon." Sooner or later everything will be fine, economic will soon be better. Security will soon be better. Let's give them time. You are almost into the last lap of your first tenure and you still more time. All of sudden, Buhari who was almost giving gbas gbos from every Nigeria is now been talked hushly like a saint compare to Tinubu. And to make matters funny, the present regime is somehow blaming the woes of the nations to Buhari whose regime was fully supported and praise by them. Now what am I trying to say here, in my opinion. There's nothing our current president will do to turn Nigeria around even if we like give him another 10yrs. The deterioration of Nigeria has been like that since IBB I mentioned. The former is always better than the latter. . Having said this, there's still no Messiah out there. Be it Obi, Atiku, Amaechi, Kwankwaso, and including Tinubu himself to save Nigeria for now, cus the system is so bad and flawed. All of them are still a chip from the old block. Switching parties and looking for food when the present one doesn't feed them. The only thing is just to pray for chopping and chopping or rotation of the government till one good one will have the fear of God and do the right thing. Now let me talk about our supportership and partisanship. The truth is majority of Nigerians tends to support leadership based on tribal lines. We don't care if the person is capable or not, provided he's from my side let him there. Everything he does whether good or bad is always good. For me, I am not a politician. I don't know politics. Infact I am just learning it on this forum. The first and only time I have followed people to go out and campaign was for Tinubu wanting to be governor of Lagos State. The first and only time I have voted was Jonathan's 2011 presidency which he won. But after every every, I found out all of them are the same. The truth is, anybody hailing any present government in Nigeria is benefitting one or the other from the government or it's bcus he's from my tribe. I'm an Igbo man born and brought up in Lagos. I don't care who is gonna be the president, whether from North, South, East or West. My own is let Nigeria feel the impact of your government. Let the people say good things about you. And it pains me when people call out Tinubu on here, then that person automatically become an Obi supporter or what do they call them self Obidients or whatever. It's not so, I for one no send Obi or anyone of them out there looking to usurp Tinubu. My own is let Tinubu do the right thing and give Nigerians what they want and what he promised them. I won't lie, Tinubu has worked very well on infrastructure. But he has failed woefully in economics and security, and this are part of what makes people join him and APC to demand that change from Jonathan and PDP. . So my conclusion guys, don't be surprised with what is happening now. It has always been like that in Nigeria where the former regime is better than the current, so it didn't start with Tinubu. Our prayers is for God "If He hasn't forgotten us" to touched their mind and make them do the right thing. Lastly: don't sit at home and wait for what government will do for you. Go out there and make strides, they're many things out there for us to do and survive without depending on government. Peace out. |

Telling oneself and accepting the truth to one self is different and just like a first step...... learning lessons from one's realized mistake and shortcomings and making necessary changes is where the main thing is......now you can manage to get 50% percent of the country to go past the first stage and probably just below 10% to go past the second stage.....so the Nigeria of ur dreams is still far from reach that's why I don't blame sane people who want to japa to have a feel of how a sane society should be and to train their kids in one. |

Kalulu44:The system that is bad and flawed is made up of who, us Nigerians. Even forget politics and look at the menace of yahoo boys, how can you expect a system that doesn't see people like that as the pure evil they are to not be deeply flawed. We are what we elect. Per the bolded, there are people that can save us from ourselves in my opinion. Prof Soludo, Bianca Ojukwu and Akpakomessiah to name just three. However, they will have to fight really hard to germinate fully in a system like ours. It is good to see that you no longer see Peter Obí as a messiah, a bizzare false positive of sorts propagated by Obidients and one Nigerians (thankfully) as a whole are no longer just accepting at face value |

aswani:Even the names you mentioned can only try their own best which may likely not translate into the change we are all clamouring for. Best solution in my opinion is disintegration of the country or restructuring and resources control at the very least. Let every region have their own security architecture, control their boarder and utilise their resources the way that seems good to them while contributing a few % to the centre. The center should be decentralised and be made very lest attractive. Any region that refused to develop will not blame Nigeria for her failure. The current Nigeria system can not allow even the best brains to take us out of the wood. |

Godfullsam:Per the bolded, that solution will mean Prof Soludo will not rule over me, it is not the best solution. On top of which, the same useless political class will rise to the fore in Arẹwà, Biafra, Delta or Odùduwà republics. The solution is for the people to take control of the political structure of the country, an example of which they did by voting Peter Obi as much as they did last time and scaring the bejesus out of the political class. Now Peter Obi is part of that political class, don't get me wrong, but if we as a people could vote for a raft of proven candidates that are not part of or beholden to the political Gods in Nigeria, we will soon see things get better for the common man. |

BATified2023:What has Bianca got to do with the Civil war, was she alive when it happened or with Ikemba. Bianca is young as is not part of this political class beholden to each other. She also isn't a serial party hopper like some, nọ names mentioned. We will be OK in her hands. |
