The founder of Salvation Ministries, David Ibiyeomie, has said that his prayers played a significant role in the political successes of former Rivers State governor Nyesom Wike.

Speaking during a church service, the cleric narrated how Wike once reached out to him during a tense legal battle that threatened his political future. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

According to Ibiyeomie, the former governor contacted him while he was in Israel, expressing fears that a pending judgment at the Supreme Court of Nigeria might not favour him.

The pastor explained that the situation appeared difficult because Wike had already lost earlier rulings at both the High Court and the Court of Appeal.

Despite the circumstances, Ibiyeomie said he encouraged Wike not to panic, assuring him that divine intervention would change the outcome.

The clergyman revealed that he prayed for Wike during a church programme known as Five Nights of Glory, a major annual event organized by Salvation Ministries.

According to him, the outcome of the legal matter eventually turned in Wike’s favour.

Ibiyeomie said the development reinforced his belief that God intervened in the situation after the prayers.

The pastor also spoke about the political climate during Wike’s re-election campaign in Rivers State.

He alleged that some political actors had planned to manipulate the election outcome to favour another candidate, Biokpomabo Awara.

However, he said the alleged plot did not succeed.

Statements by religious leaders about political events often generate debate in Nigeria, where faith and politics frequently intersect.

Ibiyeomie’s remarks have since sparked discussions among supporters and critics regarding the influence of religious leaders in the country’s political space.

I was just reading about the profile of MLK's parents who were pastors. One of the things that I learned from them was that for pastors, they believed in social justice. They didn't believe it was enough for them to preach. They had to show good service and fight for justice and against oppression 🤔

You did not pray for justice to be done in the electoral matter but got Wike to win. Do you know how many people died during the 2015 guber in Rivers?
Anyways it seems the god you were praying to is called Mary Odili cause same Wike has told us the gigantic role she played in overturning the tribunal and Appeal court judgements against him
