the supreme leader is the head of state and commander of the armed forces. The president is the head of government. Same as parliamentary govt like UK where the king is the head of state and commander in chief of the armed forces while the prime minister is the head of government.
Only countries that combine both posts like US and Nigeria practice presidential system.
