President Bola Ahmed Tinubu stated that no state governor in Nigeria is currently struggling to borrow from banks to pay workers’ salaries, describing the development as a sign that the nation’s economy is gradually stabilizing.

The President made the remark while addressing religious and traditional leaders during a gathering held to mark the coinciding fasting periods of Ramadan and Lent.

According to Tinubu, the economic reforms introduced by his administration have helped improve the financial standing of states, enabling governors to meet their obligations to workers without resorting to emergency borrowing.

“No governor in this country, in any of your states, is now running around the banks to borrow money to pay the salaries of their workers,” Tinubu said.

He noted that the situation was very challenging when his administration assumed office, but assured that significant progress had been made in stabilizing the nation’s economy.

The President said Nigeria had been saved from the brink of bankruptcy through tough but necessary economic decisions taken by the Federal Government.

“It was very daunting and very challenging when we took over, but today I can say with pride and joy that we are surviving and the economy has turned the corner,” he added.

Tinubu also revealed that pensioners are gradually receiving relief as the government continues to implement policies aimed at improving the welfare of Nigerians.

He reiterated that his administration remains committed to investing in critical sectors such as agriculture and education to ensure a better future for the next generation.

The President further assured Nigerians that despite security challenges, including terrorism and banditry, the Federal Government remains determined to restore peace and protect the country’s sovereignty.

We are coming from a time when a litre of fuel was below N200, a bag of rice was under N30,000, and a bag of cement was below N5,000, Food items, basic necessities were cheaper. We are coming from a time when civil servants could realistically build their own homes and still survive on their salaries.

Today, under the economic policies of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the naira has been massively devalued, its value eroded, and the purchasing power of Nigerians drastically reduced. Ordinary people now struggle to afford the most basic necessities.

Governments is meant to make the lives of citizens better not worsen it like Tinubu have done in a gagatuan scale

So spare us the lectures about intellect. Nigerians are not complaining because they lack intelligence; they are complaining because their money now buys far less than it used to.

And saying that governors are not borrowing to pay salaries misses the point entirely. This administration, alongside the governors under it, has borrowed more than any other government in the history of this country. The real question remains: what exactly is all that money being used for?

They are paying worker's salary by suffering the poor masses, you removed fuel subsidy, floated naira, removed electricity subsidy that directly benefitting the masses without making provisions on how to cushion its effect on the poor masses, prices of goods skyrocketed in the market with a minimum wage of 70k. There's nothing to brag about except that he brought multidimensional poverty upon 75% of Nigerian populace. A leader that suffers her people is not a leader but rather a dictatorship.

All the money realized from subsidy plus borrowing you are giving it to the governors in other to buy them to your side. God will judge all of you supporting this evil government.

Let us be clear, own your suffering if you are suffering. How many Nigerians have been to your house to tell they are suffering or do you mean you have not seen Nigerians buying cars n building houses around your vicinity ?

So if you are suffering in silence speak out before hunger pai you. Stop generalising your poverty on Nigerians, proclaim your suffering within your father's household that is the only place any suffering is going on not anywhere else.
