You are rubbing Peter to pay Paul. You are putting masses in extreme poverty to satisfy governors and to fund your expensive lifestyles and retain power. It's clear even to the blind |

Metrix147:We should never have been borrowing to to pay salaries in the first place. If a state needs to do that, then it needs to reduce its overbloated workforce. |

ekukeku:That was the objective. That they 'can pay salaries' is the public sideview. The real objective was political control. If not, the biggest determinant of a nation's prosperity remains in the hands of the Federal government through policies that affect the macro economy and in a system such as ours where the states are not true federating units, it just smacks of 'giving fishes to eat instead of fishing nets'. For what is the essence of the ability 'to pay salaries' when federal government induced inflation renders it meaningless. Look at gasoline prices today. What can the states do...nothing. Who can mitigate the inflationary shocks...the Federal government... |

COMPAQ:This is exactly what good leadership will have done as a better solution. Help states restructure their finances. Reduce their costs while helping them invest properly so they can increase income. But there is nothing about this 2023 -2017 government that shows leadership by example. Nothing about them shows an economy in austerity...well except the inability to execute the capital side of the budget, the side that helps the public. |

There isn’t a single perfect indicator, but political scientists and historians generally agree that the most determinant factor of a bad government is how it treats the rights, welfare, and accountability to its citizens. In practice, several key signs reveal whether a government is bad or not. Here are the most important factors 👇 1. Lack of Accountability If leaders cannot be held responsible for their actions, governments tend to become abusive. Examples include: Rigged elections No independent courts Media censorship Leaders staying in power indefinitely Countries scoring poorly on measures like the Democracy Index or Freedom in the World Index often show this pattern. Why it matters: Without accountability, corruption and abuse grow unchecked. 2. Violation of Human Rights A government becomes clearly harmful when it systematically violates the basic rights of its people. Examples: Torture or arbitrary detention Suppressing protests Discrimination against minorities International groups such as Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch monitor these abuses. 3. Widespread Corruption When public officials use power for personal gain rather than public service. This includes: Bribery Embezzlement Nepotism Corruption levels are measured by the Corruption Perceptions Index produced by Transparency International. 4. Failure to Provide Basic Public Goods A government is failing if it cannot provide essential services such as: Security Infrastructure Healthcare Education Organizations like the World Bank and United Nations track these development indicators. 5. Suppression of Opposition A government becomes dangerous when it does not allow peaceful disagreement. Signs include: Arresting opposition politicians Controlling elections Banning political parties Healthy governments allow criticism without punishment. ✅ In summary: The most decisive factor is whether citizens can hold their leaders accountable and keep their basic rights. When those disappear, corruption, repression, and poor governance usually follow. 💡 A simple rule many scholars use: If citizens cannot peacefully change their leaders or criticize them without fear, the government is likely bad. |

Your assertion is grossly screwed. As 3 tier democracy, any income are meant to be CONSTITUTIONALLY SHARED by all tiers of government - FG, STATES, LGs.. so what do you mean by “putting masses in poverty to satisfy governors”. The President is doing the RIGHT THING. May I ask who is your state Governor? What development have your Governor been doing in your state? See Governors like Otti, Mba, Sanwa-Olu, Gov Sheriff, my state gov Okphebolo, Akwa Ibom Gov, etc.. these Govs have been doing FANTASTIC WORKS their citizens have been praising them. HOLD YOUR STATE GOVTS RESPONSIBLE, THE FG HAS BEEN PLAYING THEIR PART BY DISTRIBUTING FUNDS AS CONSTITUTIONALLY REQUIRED. I can’t wait for State Police to come to effect and you’ll see further improvements. Get Informed pls! Zico5: |

If the world was that ignorant your President.that went around cap in hand for loans will not have been given anything haven arrived in a newly acquired presidential jet. You're just spewing trash. Is the federal government not borrowing to offset bills, both for the state and local government level? So, what's he actually saying? Borrowing is borrowing at all levels. It doesn't matter who borrowed. Bluntemperor |
