There's my friend that got a job with Federal College of Education Gombe in January. Went for documentation but the appointment was rescind because he is BSc Holder( distance learning). His connect (Member house of reps) pleaded, they refused to accept. They said a distance learning certificate can only work as non academic. Then the reps asked them to convert him to non academic, they said impossible because the appointment letter is academic that he's already captured as academic. He's now at home with nothing. My question is, what is wrong with distance learning ?

This is not true. There is no certificate that bears distance learning, full time, part time, online or sandwich. We should please, learn to tell things exactly the way they are. Secondly, there is no way a recruiting organisation can tell your mode of study from your certificate.

Distance learning and National Open University students dont go for NYSC. They give them letter of exclusion (differentfrom exemption letter). Thats how they know its open or distance learning certificate. If you dont have an answer, pls no need of response. This is not a hearsay

It depends on what you want. Do you want to simply make money or do you want visibility. Do you want to work really hard and perhaps make a name for yourself or do you want to enjoy life (soft life).

Forget about the fact that one is owned by state and the other by the federal. In most cases as lecturers, states pay much more than federal government. So money shouldn't be a consideration here. If you will like to later move to federal university , perhaps because of anything, it will be easier if you take up that university job. There's respect and more opportunities with university.

The college of education will most likely prevent you from getting a university lecturing job later. Even if you are lucky, you will never be offered more than the same L2 you are being offered right now even if you have 10 years experience in that college of education.

If I were you, I will quickly take up that university job. If you want to work in the university, this is your opportunity.

I am a lecturer and I know things.

The staff had a meeting with the DG on Friday and he promised there was going to be a review of their salary and they MAY get a 50 to 100% increase soon. He didn’t give a timeframe and even with 100% increase, the salary still won’t be up to 700k because current salary at entry level is about 260k
