Let me ask some genuine questions. How will government create subsidy, which fund will the government use and which government, your government or their government. Nigeria government revolved around some set of minority people. Day169: |

Nigeria's problem isn't fuel prices or oil, it's power. We're feeling it more because we have no power. I had to buy fuel of over N12,000 just to power my generator for 4 hrs, pump water and have a little left over for the next day. I did this so the food in the freezer won't go bad. If I had power, I won't have an issue that much. But now, it will be more glaring because this useless government refused to deal with power but decided to put all money on a coastal road. Power should be what decides Tinubu's re-election. Nothing else. If you can't fix power, pls resign. |

yesloaded:And where will the govt be getting extra money now to fund subsidy,if this persist any longer than 2 weeks, the govt would have been broke......don't you know if subsidyvwas still in place, govt bills will also rise as prices are rising and we would have been sleeping in petrol stations by now also there wouldn'thave been any dangote refinery........this are austerity times coming back and you need to be more economical with the use of petrol. |

Ordinarily 120 usd is almost double what is in the budget so this amounts to a so called 'windfall'. Party faithfuls should remember this because they had often referenced the high crude prices during the Jonathan regime and criticized it for what it did with the so called windfall. Now is the opportunity to show ordinary Nigerians the better way of managing windfalls. But with one strong note. Remember, ALL PREVIOUS REGIMES PAYED SUBSIDIES ON LOCAL SUPPLY OF GASOLINE. So this government has a much longer rope. |

omoredia:What do you want dangote to do? You have every right to get a licence and go bring your own pms and sell at whatever price you want, what competition are you looking for again......you people just make outlandish inferences and throw invectives at a system you dont even understand the basics of how it runs......your confident display of ignorance is highly nauseating. |

“US-Israel-Iran W@r on Oil Prices: “ We purchase Nigerian crude from the Nigerian government at international benchmark related prices, we then pay international insurance rates in order to bring that crude from the terminal to the refinery. What's Worse Than $120 Oil is No Oil” .............................The government of the day is so cruel walahi . Selling crude oil at international price to local refinery in DOLLARS...... is that not wickedness ? And some i.d.i.o.t.s will come out to say this isn't government's fault. |

Shimmaa:There is an international cartel called OPEC that controls crude output and prices which Nigeria is obligated to as a member.......tinubu cannot determine how much crude is to be sold........lets accept without conceding that tinubu can decide that dangote should get his petrol cheaper than international rates just so you can get cheap petrol, you will still get to pay more because you have further incentivised smuggling which will attract higher prices than you are willing to pay and marketers will be willing to sell to them cause of higher margins and you would have only little to fight over thereby causing scarcity forcing you to pay more, now who looses? |

ccollins:Have you paid the price or costs for those economies you so admire payed to get where they are...... your countries budget isn't upto that of NY state alone let alone carlifonia and you expect their king of educational standards and health standards......SA alone is generating 10 times the electricity your country generates for a larger population......are you paying as much taxes as they pay,are you producing as much as they produce, are you as disciplined as they are? Ordinary tax reforms the govt has brought you have all been crying and shouting that tinubu wants to kill everyone but you want to enjoy American standards without paying the price. |

Lithiumite:Make the best use of your Google or ask those loving over there Also, people pay taxes even on data that we use. Those agbero collecting money from commercial transporter mp dey chop the money buy remitting some parts to the government while the transporter pass the burden to passengers whereas there's nothing of such in Canada. You pay more than 4k naira on every 1 bag of cement that you buy (according to dangote analysis). You pay tax when you shop in the supermarket, you pay tax when you subscribe your paytv, you pay lots of indirect taxes but yoh no go know. Mind you, the salaries that government workers earn in this country is not worth it still they pay tax |

when Dangote refinery company want to speak to speak to Nigeria emotion - Dangote himself will grant media chat but when it reasons they increase the price, he allow all his foreign speakers to talk - Monopoly can not be taken out of him |

Ayomid3h:I wonder how you grew up, you sound so undeserving as if you always expect to receive the short end of the stick The reason we have government is to act on our behalf to make lives better, they interven and act when necessary Now that there is dustruption in the international market, which is likely to impact the lives of Nigerians negatively it is the duty of Tinubu to intervain appropriately, luckily for him he is an oil producer ,check is that how Saudi Arabia allowed oil prices to just respond any how |

yesloaded:All these is what the new tax law seeks to regularise by harmonising the various taxes and. Rates so you have a bearing on govt finances nd eliminate all this illegal charges.......you nust be ready to pay taxes if you want all these you ask......nigerians are forever under the illusion that Nigeria is super rich which isn't true considering our revenues with our GDP......we aren't even as rich as texas a single state in the US. When tax administration becomes effective, people will begin to get more involved in govt and hold them more accountable also govt would be forced to provide all the necessary amenities to enable you to be more productive to pay taxes......but right now fovt doesn't seem to care about the citizens much because they don't depend on them for income. |

Lithiumite:Hold who accountable? People who believe in using hoodlums to attack peaceful protesters? Same government that control the judiciary the way they want? Same people who use remote control to upturn the outcome of election in osun state? Have you noticed the increase of VIO, FRSC, NPF on our roads recently? They see this time as the perfect period to make it in life because nobody will challenge them due to the kind of what's happening at the top 😂 |

Market forces are currently at work. I wonder why I don't expect much from this administration. If they are selling to Dangote at the international price, they lack the means to regulate his rates. The country is engaged in business, and Dangote is doing his. The government did not set him up. If they genuinely want the nation experience a degree of ease, they should sell crude oil to him at the previous rate and, in exchange, receive a specified amount of fuel to be sold at the old rate. |

yesloaded:Oga!! You aren't reacting to these absurdities because you aren't heavily taxed and it hasn't gotten round.....by the time govt is taking 25% of ur profit or salary and that of everyone around you.....everyone would sit up and have one voice in holding govt accountable........50 naira per transaction is considered irrelevant by many, transport levies by drivers is considered irrelevant by those who don’t drive, market levies is not regarded as significant by those who arent Traders, many don't even know what PAYE is because they aren't in paid employment......but when this tax law becomes effective,it will touch everyone and everyone will feel bothered. |
