During elections in Nigeria, a troubling pattern is often seen among many youths. Instead of going out to vote, some gather with friends to play football or sit in their usual spots drinking alcohol, while predicting the outcome of the election from their “base”. This attitude has bedevilled Nigerian youths in choosing the leaders who govern them. Many complain about the state of the nation and about older politicians always becoming President, yet they fail to participate in the very process that can bring change. Rather than engaging in national issues, many youths spend more time discussing football, entertainment, and following social media pages that promote pleasure instead of development. What many forget is that politics controls both the good and the bad of an economy. Government decisions determine jobs, education, infrastructure, and the future of every citizen. If you are a youth and you complain about older people always becoming President, then the question is simple: Please list 5 youths between the ages of 35–50 who have integrity, strong leadership qualities, and solution-driven ideas that can qualify them to serve as President of Nigeria.
