All the comments here probably didn't watch the video to the end.

He didn't complain about the set up or the economy. He was specifically asking for a loan. Unfortunately, as Nigerian business men usually do, he didn't mention the amount.

The amount he needs for his energy need (solar system) is between N500m-N700m. That's a whole lot. And he's looking at someone who will borrow him and wait till 10yrs to pay back? Not happening.

What he really needs is a major investor who will bring in like N5bn, expand the empire into something formidable and they keep eating together. But, again, like most Nigerian business men, na chop alone e dey plan to do. So, he hopes to weather the storms alone so he won't need to share his profits with anyone.

He should fokan bale and know that RTIFN- relax Tinubu is FINISHING Nigeria with fake promises and false announcements. undecided

Do you think that if he joins city boy movement he will get a forever discount card for fuel to buy it at N197 huh

Deltafirstson:
Although the pump price of fuel was N197 when President Bola Tinubu took over on May 29, 2023, the product now sells for N617 per litre – less than two months after.

In his inaugural address, Tinubu announced that subsidy was gone, fulfilling a promise that all leading presidential candidates made during the campaign.

Nigerians have been lamenting the hardship occasioned by fuel price hike. Amid the lamentation, a video where Tinubu campaigned to slash the price of fuel went into circulation.

Checks by Daily Trust affirmed the authenticity of the video uploaded on the YouTube page of Channels Television.

At his campaign rally in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, on January 25, 2023, Tinubu spoke on a number of issues, but those of fuel scarcity and naira redesign made the headlines.

However, Tinubu who spoke in Yoruba language, also assured the crowd that though people were saying petrol price would hit N200, it would be reviewed downward under him.

“The great Nigerian youths, the great Nigerian students, the confident Nigerian youths. This is a revolution. This election is a revolution. They are plotting, but they will fail. They said fuel price will increase and reach N200 per litre. Go and relax, we will bring it down,” he had said in the 7th minute of the video.

Since people have being fixing solar in their houses, has the price of electricity dropped by a kobo before?

Una no just get sense for this country
The price of electricity will go down if the government will industrialize the production of solar systems. It is already happening in China.

Reports had it early this year that some plants are already closing due to an oversupply of solar panels which is distorting the market there.

Why can't the government bring those closing plants to produce here in Nigeria. Establish those plants here and buy off their products to build industrial solar parks everywhere, parks that can then be sold off to local investors to operate. If each state can have 100Mw we can easily double our present production, decentralize generation from the south to strengthen the grid and deepen the energy mix from an increasingly unreliable and costly gas infrastructure.

I don’t believe this. 11M is like #350k everyday. If diesel is #1500 per liter, it means he buys about 233 liters everyday.

What size of generator does he use? Even a 100kva generator will not consume that much in just one day.

It's not even the 11m that's painful
It's when those heedeeots called DISCOS will just come with bill for light not provided
So on top burning money for alternative power you still pay for horrible service barely rendered
One tozo here is already making recommendation to a business man to move heavy appliances to solar

While Kunle is a good film maker, he seem not to be a strategic business man.

R.I.P to Gazzuzz, As strategic as Gazzuzz was, if Gazzuzz was in his shoes, He would have moved not so heavy duty electric appliances off grid to use solar, then only buy lesser diesel for heavy duty electrical appliances that consume so much power.

He would save cost that way.
Rip gazzuzz!! A great man Nigeria lost.

Until Nigerians stand up in unity and demand accountability from our political leaders,Nigeria will remain stagnant.I was reading a tread yesterday where some people are justifying increase in petroleum products(crude oil sourced and refined locally) with the current war going on between Israel, America and Iran. How should such war affect us? The countries that are at war still have stable pump price and power supply.

When all of you are cheering USA, Iran and Israel you didn't know it would get to you indirectly
Your government is wicked and some of you are as bad as the government. Now that it has dropped in international market the price of crude by barrel it's still high in Nigeria. They don't use the same pace of rising crude price to reduce home price whenever he drops. That is failure of government. They government don't care at all. South Korea put a cap. Some other countries took measures. Nigeria government are doing nothing.

To add, the diesel he uses is purchased on credit. Yes to your suggestion; get an investor, most likely private equity, or get a loan with a very low interest rate.

Oga, there is no loan with very low interest rate anywhere. No person will have other opportunities to drop money at 30% annual interest and will now choose you because you dey do movie village.

And no financial institution will risk it either as they don't know if your next couple of movies will move in the market. People who studied risk analysis will simply cancel you out, FAST.

The premise of the whole complaint remains power. He needs power to produce stuff. If he had power he will not need a loan to build his own private power station. In an ideal society it should not be his headache. Power is considered a public service, a shared burden that the organizer of society, government should moderate.

It is one of the reasons foreign investors are not falling over themselves to come to Nigeria. They simply cannot understand how or why they should make additional investments in public services after tax. Build their power plants, build an army of security men, build their roads, water plants, sewage plants, dispose of their wastes instead of just paying a fee as in their home countries.

Nigeria is not competitive at all. And it is all because of a lack of societal cohesion and organisation, aka government's poor vision, planning and execution.

With your second paragraph, I now understand your point. However, there are industries where 10% interest rates are possible, even from Nigerian banks, let alone foreign banks.

And I agree totally with you.

But like I usually say, when life gives you lemons, you either complain or make lemonade.

There are too many people complaining about things that within their circle of concern rather than their circle of influence that they can change. I choose to do the opposite.
