Kano Hisbah Arrests Two Teenagers Over Alleged Plan for ‘Gay’ Birthday Party After Eid Prayers

The Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested two teenage boys, Umar Yahaya, 19, and Musa Al-Hassan, 18, over an alleged plan to organize what authorities described as a “gay” birthday party in the state.

According to the board’s Deputy Commander, Mujahideen Aminudeen, the teenagers were apprehended after intelligence reports suggested they were making arrangements for the event to take place shortly after the Eid-el-Fitr prayers marking the end of Ramadan.

Aminudeen disclosed that the suspects, who reportedly identified themselves as Yan Daudu (pimps), had allegedly used social media platforms to invite individuals from different parts of the country to attend the gathering. The planned event, he said, was expected to feature dancing and activities the Hisbah Board considers immoral.

The deputy commander stated that during interrogation, the teenagers admitted to their actions and expressed regret over the plan.

He explained that instead of prosecuting the suspects or sending them to jail, the board decided to place them under its supervision where they would undergo religious counseling and guidance.

Aminudeen also revealed that the Hisbah Board would intensify monitoring of mosques and public spaces during the final days of Ramadan. According to him, the measure is aimed at ensuring that night prayers and other gatherings are not used for activities considered inappropriate by the board.

The Kano State Hisbah Board is responsible for enforcing Islamic moral codes in the state.
